I noticed that in addition to the patch to live servers (GU46) there was also a patch to the test server this morning. Patch notes for test include the following:
Quote:
QUESTS

* "Void Storms Pt 1"

-The respawn time on the Tempest Touched creatures has been decreased. Groups now share the accomplishment of cleansing the creatures. The number of creatures needed to be cleansed, per quest, has been reduced.

Original requirement was to cleanse 9 mobs for each *note* reward.

reducing spawn time was probably a good choice as opposed to placing additional mobs and IMHO, less mobs per quest cycle is always a good thing! I had assumed that everyone in the group would get credit for each cure so that change would be welcome as well.

Now I just wonder if this change applies to the live servers as well. Hopefully they saw the issue with *everyone* needing the same mobs and solved the issue for live as well.

Personally, I'm looking at grinding out a BUNCH of notes in order to get all the things I want. Getting them a bit sooner will be welcome!

actually, the original requirement was to cleanse 12 tempest touched creatures. that was reduced to 9 on the 10th of June (the date of the test server update notes you read).

Darn! Well at least they're making them respawn more quickly and giving everyone credit for the kills...

Guess I'll just settle in for the big grind... /sigh

don't worry. I did the quests on my monk (needed at least 6 for both katanas, but wanted some of the other things that I was curious about) and was able to knock out about 9-12 in only a couple hours. it's not that bad, really.

Yeah, I took a run at these this morning and it was a snap!

The mobs tend to be in threes clustered around the base of the storm and static so you find a spot and pick off three sets of three for each note you need.

I wound up running through the quest about 10 times just killing a couple hours!

Picked up some groovy new house items...

A bit too similar to the previous event, healing the blights; it's a fairly nice time sink, with some nice house items. Did it once for the Axp, but I won't keep doing it to get more of those house items. I forgot to see if there were any books, I might go for that one too.

There was some grumbling yesterday in the chats about the rather uselesseness of the items gained. But as others then stated, the game is more than just loot.

Boy is it hard to stay focused on the storm cleansing grind. I get to 6/9 and then, "Group looking for a tank for VoES!". I do that, get to 8/9..."Group looking for a tank for CoA!". I can't turn them down!

I think this event is a huge step forward for SOE. Past world events often offered a (single) *useless* trinket as a reward (building the TS & Nek bird towers or rebuilding the spires are both good examples) but their thinking has advanced to the point where they now offer us choices from a wide range of reward options.

They have also made the quest scale to level so that everyone can participate. And finally the note/barter system allows us to repeat the quest as much or as little as we choose and be rewarded accordingly based on individual desire.

As far as the *uselessness* of the rewards involved, EQ2 world events have never offered rewards that were in any way *game changing*. I believe that to do so would invite massive complaints from those players who for whatever reason are unable to participate and would feel they were *missing out* on something important to which they were entitled.

In short, I think SOE "gets it"! Players have complained in the past that the events were too short or that they were for too narrow a lvl range, or that the rewards lacked variety. All of these concerns have been addressed in this event.

And the guys that want to receive a *sword or uberness* for curing a few mobs are barking up the wrong tree!

Before you scoff at the rewards, check the GU46 patch notes. The weapon rewards from the last event can be mounted, put on your wall, and then (I'm told) you can get a VERY nice weapon for your level from them. So... hide and wait :)

The last time we saw such a broad range of prized (and buy what you want) was last Erollisi Day.

Who's scoffing? Personally, I'm tryin' to clean the merchant guy out!

End tables... inkwell... crystal chamber... pillows... goblin pet... there are tons of things I just can't live another moment without!

I'm not scoffing either, it was a point of debate in the chats online though. The general response was just "then don't do the quests" and "not everything is about loot". Which was pretty justified.

I'll probably do some more, if I find the time, even if just for the nice looking house items.

I'll have to upgrade again soon, not going to be easy with all those items. They should add an option to just transfer all items when you buy a new appartment or house.

Don't know when the last time you moved was, but there have been a number of improvements to the whole experience.

First, there is a single button option on your housing pop-up that says *pack contents of house* (I'm paraphrasing here 'cause I don't remember the exact wording)

Also, you now get a "moving crate" when you change addresses and everything from your old house automatically goes into it when you move. This box ends up on the floor of your new house and can be moved to any room as you unpack your stuff to decorate your new digs.

And finally, anyone who has placed and left items in your house (including alts) gets an email informing them that you moved and listing your new address.

PLEASE NOTE ~ Be careful, the moving crate is a one-way deal - you can take stuff out but you can never put anything back in!

To elaborate, when you sell your old house everything automatically packs up and appears in your new house (when you buy it) in a moving crate. MUCH better than last time I moved, I had to mail stuff to all my alts!

Now that's very interesting, to say the least.

Last time I moved, I switched from Qeynos to Maj'Dul (easier during my betrayal bouts), had to fill up every box I had to fit everything in it!

Very tempting to just get me a big old mansion, see how long it'll take to fill that one up!
