I just downloaded the trial and updated it. I am at the screen where it gives the options, my account, game options, preferances, and purchase expansions. How do you create a character or get to the character creation screen, thank you
Character creation comes after the login screen so login using your brand new user name and password then follow the prompts. When you get to the character select screen, you should see a small thin rectangular button near the bottom of the window on the left labeled "create character". Click it - it's the one you want!

Is it finished updating/patching? When it's all through with patching, there will be a big red PLAY button. If you're not seeing that, then it's still got some downloading to do.
Once you see the Play button, that will take you to the screen where you create your characters.
