Just curious of a raise of hands of which of you Zam folks are going to Fan Faire this year so I can keep an eye out for who to avoid.. err.. finally meet in person. ;)
I'll be attending and arriving a day early so I can properly get my drunk on before the real fun begins! XD

well, I'm going to Fan Faire. actually making a decent enough living and get a paid vacation, so I can, for the first time in several years, actually take a vacation. so Fan Faire here I come.
Great! Look forward to seeing you there, Qwash! We're just doing some creative financing so we can afford the plane tickets. Jet fuel just jumped in price by 100% last night so our tickets have already increased in price by $200 each. And, we can't purchase them till the end of the month so its going to get ugly between now and then. The cats may starve. We may have nicotene fits. But, I'll always have my beer!
It's 99% certain that I'm going, the question for us is will Hubby be able to join me. It's a matter of a) can Auntie watch the kids for a few days and b) do we have enough air miles?

Check your airline miles, Cal. I invited my parents yesterday so they could meet my girlfriend for the first time and Vegas is just a 4 hour car ride for them. They checked flights instead via their airmiles and found out that airmiles were being cut in half as of tomorrow due to the fuel costs.

Well.. I got some good news and some bad news the other day.
After 3 interviews, I was finally offered a position at Verizon Wireless this past week. My signing bonus however is contingent on my attendance the first 90 days. I can't miss a single day or I'm throwing $4000 out the window. And, my first day is the 14th of July.
So, I'm still waiting to here back from HR since I told them that I already had travel plans in August. Unless they allow for the 3 days that I'm going to miss, I won't be able to make it this year. :(

YAY!! and at the same time BOO!!. glad to hear the good news about the job. hope they allow you to continue with the plans you've already got made without forgoing the bonus. that would suck to make all those plans for Fan Faire and then not be able to go simply because your new employer decides that they can't remove the stick.
