So what did I buy? (Expansion question)Follow

#1 May 22 2008 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
n00b alert!

I just got sucked into EQ again (EQ2 in this case). After playing the trial I decided to sign up for a regular account. After doing that I got a download to patch my game, but I'm kinda confused about what I got and what (if anything) I still need/can buy.

I bought no software, but had a download form Sony. Is this just the base game? Or does it contain any expansions? If so, which ones? If not, do I have to buy them? (I always needed to buy expansions when I was still playing regular EQ). And which ones are worthwhile?
I don't see any offers at webshops for the expansions, so I'm confused. Can someone please explain to me what's what?

Thanks in advance!

I believe if you do the download version, it's automatically ROK expansion, which means that you should get the entire game, all expansions and adventure packs included. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The latest expansion, Rise of Kunark, contained everything that had come previously (a great deal for people just starting!). I think that's the only package being sold at the Station Store right now. But just in case:

When you load the game up, what does the title page say (when it actually goes full screen mode). If it says "Everquest II: Rise of Kunark", you've got the whole thing.

Or. Go to your Station account. Login and click Subscription Info, then EverQuest II. What does it list under EverQuest II Subscription Details? We're especially looking for ones called "Entitlement" (these are /claim items that came with the various packages). Is "Rise of Kunark" in there somewhere?

Thanks for the reply!

This is what I see at my account info:
* In-Game Item: 1 Day Vet Reward
* In-Game Item: 30 Day Vet Reward
* In-Game Item: 7 Day Vet Reward
* In-Game Item: 90 Day Vet Reward

Nothing else...

It does say Rise of Kunark on the splash screen when I start the game...

Is there any way I can check in-game?

Thnx,

Tin

Create a new toon and make him Sarnak if you are able to do this you have everything. They are one of the new toons that came with Rise of Kunark

Outstanding idea! This is an ideal way to verify the purchase. Rate up for joo!
(and in fact, you don't even need to actually create - if the race is available and not grayed out you should be good to go)

That showed me :^) No Sarnak, no Arasai. Which is weird since I'm playing an Arasai now that I started in the trial...

Well, I guess I'm gonna have to fork over 40 euros to get the whole shebang... thanks for the help!

If you didn't pay anything to get the original download you have, then you definitely did not get any expansions.

Be careful though, if you buy a digital download, you might just get one expansion. If you buy it retail, you get the full game with everything included if you get the last expansion. (Rise of Kunark)

Considering what you get, it is worth the 40 EUR though. All expansions and adventure packs released up to Rise of Kunark. Guaranteed months if not years of fun. Well, if you enjoy it from the start it's pretty much a given imo.

You're incorrect on this one. Rise of Kunark had no expansion-only release digital or otherwise. Any RoK you buy will be the whole shebang.

Yup, it's the complete set, with all the expansions and the packs. I'm definitely going to get it... so far I like this way better than the old EQ (where I used to have a high lvl cleric and bard)

My mistake! I could have sworn there was an expansion that did this, ah well, as long as tinvil gets the full game with all included, that's the main thing.

Both DoF and EoF did, you're right. :)

I ordered the RoK expansion online and did get all the expansions and adventure packs (as far as I can tell, being only a lowly lvl 15 Fury so far :^) ). About 3 hours download...

Everyone, thanks for the answers, and look me up if you feel like it: Iamsuch, Arasai fury and Osohip, woodelf Fury on Runnyeye (I'm Dutch so I play on European times. Trying to be a casual player this time, I used to be a hardcore gamer on EQ1)

Regards,

Tin

Woot, you're all hooked up!

BTW, it's much easier to be a casual playing in EQ2 than it was in EQ1 :) At least easier than it was in 2004 when I moved to Norrath-of-the-Future and never looked back!
