Arcana Treasure: Hidden Properties!?Follow

#1 Apr 30 2008 at 10:32 AM Rating: Decent
Is it likely that some looted arcana treasure items have hidden properties?
Or should they all just be sold to the NPCs....

Note that some items are charms or have magic inscriptions or writings on them.

all items that start with "looted X Treasure" are really nothing more than merchant fodder. I have never found any other use for them except to sell.

And what about items that are not "looted X treasure"?
such as:

bightly-colored faedrake wing
wind tossed black pebble
a sharp tooth
a polished boar tusk
an ocular tentacle

Pretty much everything has it's purpose indicated. If it's for a quest, it'll say so.

I guess if it had hidden properties it would show as equipable.

What confuses me is when you get *Legendary* vendor junk. Why tag it as legendary, no matter how much a vendor will pay for it

Yes I have some 'treasured' junk items.

Perhaps a Transmuting expert can tell us if 'treasured' and 'Legendary' junk can be transmuted!? If so, it may have much greater value.

The whole concept of some items having hidden properties is that these items are not equipable, and their properties are only 'hinted' at in the item description.
Perhaps this is a good question for the devs....

If you just carry a charm with you.... does it have some effect?
Does 'a glowing lightstone' give off a beneficial light just by having it in your pack?

Other items have more intricate descriptions that hint at their properties.

I'm fairly certain that's just flavor text for the most part. Not to say it isn't possible that there's a greater meaning, but certainly nothing that has been demonstrated to this point.

I'm no transmuting expert, but the legendary vendor junk thing (Ebony Draconic Wing?) cannot be transmuted - I tried

That's because it doesn't fit the transmuting parameters. For example, it can't be attuned and it's stackable.
