Yeah, you found them all over Norrath. They were invisible and didn't have all the crazy smoke effects that the EQ2 version has, but that doesn't mean alot (compare e1 orc v eq2 orc). You would find them around shrines in Nektulos, Lesser Faydark, Feerott...most of the same places you find them in EQ2 plus a few more (Lavastorm for one).

Actually since they did a revamp awhile back Orcs in EQ1 are pretty similar to orcs in eq2.

The shadows in eq1 where completely different though. They where rather annoying actually.

Annoying and dangerous.

I recall having to hunt them down for a no-rent sword as the final part to get the journeyman's boots. There were some in the West commonlands, not all that far from the Befallen entrance, could have been East Commonlands but as they merged the two zones after the revamp, it's rather irrelevant. (for shame though, Freeport has become ugly, yes even uglier than before and as aggro still doesn't drop after a distance, having to run to a zoneline just became harder)

I remember the shadowed men in EQ1. They were invisible - you'd see a blur effect when they moved and their weapons when they were fighting. And as I recall they were FAST.

I remember being suprised that they had that void goblin appearance in EQ2, since the ones in EQ1 always struck me as the right size for a standard humanoid.

Where, Stu? The :Category:Shadowed Man (EQ2 Mob Race)|Shadowed Men were not in EQ1 and Luclin went ka-blooie 50 years before EQ2 launched.

08:23PM <Jindrack> Well, I can confirm the Shadowed Men are NOT Shissar, they existed before Luclin exploded.

That is all. ^_^

Those right size humanoids are still around too in EQII, found some as guards in the obelisk of blight instance. Exactly the same as the EQI shadowed men, dual wielding ones.

This does make me think of Odus but that small continent was a waste of space. There were only like 5 or 6 real zones. You had Erudine, Tox forest, Paineel, the Hole, and that joke dungeon with the kerrans. And if you want you could count the ocean you take on the boat I guess.

As far as Shadowed men in EQ1 they existed even before Kunark. They where one of the things that got added in about the time of the Sol Ro Temple. They had a lot to do with those quests and they also where part of the JBoots quest after they got rid of the Drusella nightmare camp.

Gawd, I LOVED Tox Forest! In my early-mid levels, I just about lived there with both my ranger and my druid. Countless hours spent slaughtering poachers for their heads... Ahhhhh... good times...

Only?! The Hole was hands-down the best indoor dungeon in the game. That zone alone would make any expansion featuring Odus worth the price of admission.
