help! returning lost wizardFollow

I've got a 75 wizard, but I've been away from the game for about a year. I'm slowly leveling up, however I've completely lost the flow of what items are really worth going after or spending money on. I was almost fabled out when I stopped playing but now it seems most fabled gear is worse than most trash drops. Any advice?
