Tech feedback? EQ2 spec'd rigFollow

#1 Apr 09 2008 at 6:17 PM Rating: Decent
Kinda new to the forums, but I'm returning to EQ2 and building a new rig from scratch, and I want some feedback before I blow the cash. My last PC gaming was done on a notebook, so I have to start from scratch, minus the DVD drive i ripped from an old desktop. Here's my newegg wishlist so far:

http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6030694

The motherboard was picked for SLI and a 45nm CPU (Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 gigs). The game seems to bottleneck in processing, so i focused funds on getting a pretty sweet CPU for what I could afford..

Despite some forum discrepancies, I went ahead with the geforce 8800 GTX, as it gives me a great bang for my buck, and the 9000 series I looked at seems to still use the same problematic drivers as the 8800, plus the performance increase wont be huge unless I blow my price range into orbit.

Ram is 2 gigs DDR2 at 800, which is the most the board supports (would do more, but I'm sticking with XP for now since DX10 isn't supported), and the hard drive is raptor at 10k rpms. I bumped for the higher speed here since the game loves a nice fat paging file as well. The audio card is minimal since I wanted a simple optical out for my surround sound, and itll help take the load off the CPU when I would otherwise just stick with onboard sound. Monitor is also gonna be the same 26" LCD I use for gaming (VGA).

Critiques? Suggestions? Oversights? I still have time before I pull the money for this, so I would love some feedback. :)
