Guardian vs. Zerker questions (help plz)Follow

#1 Apr 01 2008 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
Me and 4 of my friends have started playing new characters on a new server... just for something refreshing. I am the tank (I am a beserker right now lvl 19) my friends are a illusionist, ranger, wizard, and fury. Currently I am having quite a bit of trouble keeping aggro with my zerker. The mobs always pull on to the ranger or the wizard even though the ranger uses his de - taunts and i use my taunts on the mob attacking him. My friends dont say im doing anything wrong they just say wait till later levels and that i will get better @ holding aggro(they blame it largley on my in exp.). Currently i have been reading on these fourms and noticed guardians are usually main tanks for raids.... If i can get an exp. guardian / beserker player to tell me the major differences between the two tank classes and help me decide wether or not i should exile and come back to qeynos to become a guardian.

The help will be much appreciated.

Make sure you upgrade your spells. For my zerker, I always choose my main taunt as the Master II choice (level 14, 24, etc). Don't forget your maintained spells when upgrading, as one of them increases hate also. Level 20 is when you want to start considering buying at least Adept I quality for all spells, and maybe splashing out a bit on even better quality taunt upgrades.

You may need to get your friends to back off on the powerful spells until you have raised enough hate. Certainly they should not be going in with nukes at the start of the fight - save them for the end, when the nuke will wipe the last of their health. Get them to wait a few seconds until you have fired off at least your 2 main taunts, then let them start to build with a few de-buffs & DoTs. It is as much their responsibility to ensure you keep aggro as yours. Any finger-happy wizard can pull aggro from you if they pile in, even if you have built it up well. Let them die a few times, then suggest they may want to try helping you ;)

If you are in group, your job is to hold aggro. Don't start trying to do damage. Fire all of your taunts as often as you can to keep the hate up. You have (or will get) a spell that will guarantee to pull aggro back, but can only be used every few (15?) mins, so use it sparingly. Zerkers can burn through power pretty quickly, so increasing your power pool through equipment stats will help (e.g. jewellery, etc.)

Berserker is both good & evil, so you can't betray to a guardian.
