Ahoy,
So I'm looking into getting this game, and coming from Final Fantasy XI. I just wanted to know are there any classes similar to the Redmage, asides from the Bard classes? The Redmage can buff himself, heal himself, and makes a survivable frontline combatant, although he isn't a master in any of the aforementioned fields; More of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none type. Anyways, thanks in advance for the responses.

Hmm...sounds like a paladin to me. A hybrid tank-priest. Target heals and wards to keep himself and other party members upright. Self-buffs. Melee combat arts combined with divine damage spells (smites, etc.) for going on the offensive. You differences between a paladin and a red mage are going to be when it comes to the black magic. As a paladin, all of your damage spells will be divine based with the rest of your damage coming from melee combat and combat arts whereas red mages can call on more wizardly type damage (fire, nukes, etc.).

There's also the Monk, although he's limited to healing to one spell, he's a very decent survivor and adds a nice punch from time to time.

Some nice buffs and a couple of good aggro pullers for when things get hot.

Also, a Monk has invisibility and feign death. Both those spells really change a gamestyle, at times making the player a bit too reckless though.
