Guardian - help?Follow

#1 Mar 25 2008 at 6:36 AM Rating: Decent
I'm pretty new to the game and started playing with another friend. While we try to group when we're both on, often we're running solo. Yet while my brigand is doing fine, his guardian is constantly getting smacked around.

Why?

He's a sarnak who spent his AA in the IN and ST lines. His gear is respectable for his level. So what's the deal? Is his class that inefficient for soloing that he truly has to fear dualing something that's 2-3 levels lower than him? Or is it some fault of the player?

The only things that I can think of are that he may be using Apprentice I arts, permanently in his defensive stance, and spamming things that he doesn't need. But when fighting something 1-2 levels lower than him, it costs him around 50% - 75% of his HP and Mana. And that's just for a single dualing encounter? What the heck?

You don't say what level your friend is, but definately consider upgrading spells. Apprentice II spells cans be bought for a couple of silver, and you won't have to pay much more for player-crafted Apprentice IV spells. If you are level 20 or over, seriously consider buying Adept spells: either I from broker, or player-crafted III.

Being a tank, I would have thought the STA & AGI lines would be the ones to go for first, followed by STR. You will eventually gain enough AA's to put 8 points in each of the lines to boost all your stats (plus completing a couple of the lines to the bottom). You are probably better to spend points on the stats page before hitting your spells (guardian) page.

The 1-20 Kunark armour drops are quite reasonable spec. Make sure your friend is wearing plate armour and has a decent shield. Some players may tank with a 2-handed weapon, but I always prefer a good tower shield, if only for the knock-back spells.

Also, don't forget to buy some decent jewellery once in a while. They can give your stats a much needed boost.

All classes should be able to solo even cons (maybe Kunark 70-80 excepted!). Some may do it quicker than others, but it should be possible.
