I have heard that if you're from Freeport and go to Qeynos, the guards won't kill you on sight, just throw you out of the city. I always believed that enemy faction guards would kill on sight, like in WOW. Are there areas where they will? Can a Freeport character go to Antonica to get quests? Thanks.

This used to be true, but isn't any longer. Guards in the opposing cities will attack and kill you if they aren't grayed out.

As for quests...well it depends on the quest. Largely the opposing city quest givers will ignore your or tell you where you can stick it if you try to get a quest from them. There are a few rare exceptions, but for those most part that's the case. There are some quests (including some heritage quests) that require you to sneak into the opposing cities to get an update.

OK, thanks. So what about contested areas like Thundering Steppes, where both sides have bases and guards? Will the guards in these areas attack you on sight? I always assumed they would and never went into their area.

The old zones, like Thundering Steppes and up, do not have bases or the likes restricted for only one faction. Maj'Dul has three different factions, and you will only be on the good side of one of them, the other two will always try to kill you. (you start with all three hating you though, need to do quests and a lot of them) Ofcourse, this does not mean that a player from Freeport will be able to do all the same quests as a Qeynos player, not every NPC will talk to everyone.

Kingdom of Sky zones don't have a lot of faction zones or bases.

In Faydwer, there are cities, but only in one will a Freeport player get attacked.

In the RoK zones, all are equal again. Meaning hated at first.

And I recall doing quests in Freeport with my monk from Qeynos, more specifically for the Freeport Militia. For quite some time, my faction with the Freeport Militia was much better than my faction with the Qeynos guards, it still is better than the Royal Guards for some reason.

If you don't do any faction quests for Coin/Blades/Truth and do not kill any of their guards, you will be just the right side of aggro for all 3. Doing one status writ for one of them is enough to make the other 2 factions go aggro on you.

I didn't realise this at first, because I started doing faction quests in Sinking Sands before going to Maj'Dul. My troll SK worked hard to get Blades faction to avoid a third of the aggro. My fae zerker just walked right in, only getting aggro from the excited gamblers & thieves.

You used to be able to afk next to the guards in antonica and some vendors would repair/sell to you.
