I'm buying EQ2 on Thursday and I don't know which class to play, I'm a fan of ranged/caster damage, and mostly just doing damage period, healing isn't my cup of tea.
Was wondering what class I should play to do a lot of caster damage? Been looking at Fury since I play a Shaman on WoW I might be into the nature damage.

fury is one of the more valuable healers in the game and not anywhere near the top of the DPS heap.
If you want to be a caster and do major nuke damage, the class you're looking for is a pet caster - either conjurer (if you play on the good side) or necro (if you wanna be ebil)

I vote for Wizard. You will have spells that do massive damage, buffs for yourself and your crew, and an easy time finding a party.

TY for your input I have settled on necromancer, but I have another question, do races effect your necros minions? I've noticed the Dark Elves get bat, is that the same per race or is it random at start?
I've never played a pet class but I believe that your pets sre determined by your level. You'll learn spells to get additional pets as you level up but I believe that everyone of the same class gets the same pets.
Oh, yeah... Conjurer was the wrong class for me to recommend. Pepurr is absolutely right... Wizards do put down a whole lot of smack!

I made an alt defiler I'll play around with when lvling the necro becomes strenuous. Just reading up and playing a little bit of the class looks fun but what is the defiler's main role later in the game? Supportive?
