I'm not opposed to PvP and I don't know how it is on other servers but I play on VOX and the PvPers on there seem to me to be pretty shady. It seems like if it's just one they always wait until you are in a fight with a MOB and your health is low before they attack or else there will be 3 or 4 of them who all gang up on you. Furthermore, they really appear to be impossible to kill. Some of them are even heroic and I didn't even think a player could be heroic. How do they do that? And how to they get such good gear? I don't have the best but my gear isn't too bad and when I examine on of these slayers they always have mastercrafted gear that's a million times better than what I have and sometimes they even have two of the same type of item equipped. Like two items equipped in the head slot. I am trying to solo the game and was wondering if there were any guides for PvP or if anyone had any tips so that I don't die ten times a night because I'm walking around by myself. I do like PvP sometimes so I don't want to switch to a non PvP server but I also don't like being killed every ten minutes. Is there some sort of happy medium? Thanks.

The two head items thing is simple, one is effectively equipped and one is equipped in the appearance slot and is only for the visuals and has no effect whatsoever.

As for being ganked, well, that's what I hear in all mmorpg's pvp. It's an easy kill for those that do it, it isn't fun though.

PvE servers do have pvp, but it is not much and I doubt you would like it.

As for tips, don't walk around alone or as little as possible. Try a good guild and do guild groups.

Being in a good guild would also give you better access to better equipment, mastercrafted armour is usually better than treasured, but legendary and fabled is better still. (still wear a lvl 70 fabled chest item for instance at lvl 80 myself) If you have to buy it all from the broker, then it gets expensive. Guilds tend to run instances which will drop the good stuff too.

Try to update your armour, make sure your spells are at least adept I (master is naturally much better but also a lot more expensive, I never bothered with those before hitting max level).

Thats why I swore to never play PVP again. Eq1 broke me of ever trying it again. All PVP seems to be is cheap shots, bullying, etc.

EQ1 really broke me of it though. Nothing like being lvl 8 and a lvl 70 (highest lvl you could be at the time) kills you then camps your respawn point and kills you over and over again. Then to top it off they constantly send you tells talking trash like they are the most awesome person in the world. Yea your real cool killing a lvl 8 player wearing tattered armor and a rusty sword!

Oh and you can't forget about the people who use Lag to their advantage. They spin around circles while attacking you making it difficult to hit them. That is now supposed to be part of the challenge of a MMORPG.

IMO if you want to be able to solo avoid PVP at all costs.
