In need of major help...Follow

#1 Feb 06 2008 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I have a serious problem atm. To make a long story short...

3 years ago, I played EQ2 when it first launched. I was a dwarf on qeynos faction. I did the betrayal quest and got alligned with freeport faction.

I just came back and a few of my friends are aligned with qeynos. So I did the betrayal quest for freeport, thinking it would align me back with qeynos faction. Come to find out, now Im KOS to both.

What can I do...? I want to get aligned with Qeynos again.

Thanks

You still have to earn Qeynos' trust, just like you did for Freeport.

Start with Gil McMartin in Commonlands.

Once you have 10000 faction you can start the actual citizenship bit: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?eq2quest=3758

It doesn't take as long as it used to, last time I did it, at lvl 70 though so it was very easy to walk around Freeport (apart from West Freeport), I did it in under one day.

You don't have to be the same faction to group together though, only housing can be a bit of a bother but you can visit houses in Qeynos too. (takes some dodging, depending on level and location naturally)

On the other hand, betraying gives very good achievement xp. If you take the assassination quests from McMartin, things will go quick! (although I must admit that at times finding the proper spot to spawn the mobs needed can be hard)

Certain betrayal faction quests give AP. The 5000faction and 3000faction ones do I think. I don't think the 1000 do. I personally always did the 5000 ones. When I betrayed a froglok from qeynos to freeport I did all of the 5000 ones once (this was at lvl 20ish). After I did them all for the AP I found the one I thought was easiest (for me it was the one replacing the message in a instance zone in NQ) till I had my faction.

I personally liked the old way better where you killed 500 things and a handful of named, but most people seem to enjoy these boring ones you do now. I was about to flip when I had to do that crap trying to train that dog in FP towards the end of qeynos betrayal.

Thanks for all the info guys.

So far, I am 5k away from getting out of "Threatingly". I have been doing the Bounty missions, and had a druid friend port me back and forth from Antonica to Commonlands. It is going much quicker than I had thought.

My next question, and I think I know, but want to confirm. Once I hit amiably (10k positive), I can start the citizenship missions. Do I have to be a citizen to get a house in qeynos..? Or can I as soon as Im not KoS..? I used to be a tradeskill junkie and want to get back into this, but I need access to the merchant boards and all that fun stuff. Back when I used to play, you needed a house to do that.

Thanks again everyone. I was 2sec. from quiting this game again last night. At least now I see there is still hope.

I'm 90% certain you need to be a citizen.

I'll add the other 10%. No housing until you are a citizen.

Apart from Maj'Dul, but since you have to work your way to allied with at least one faction before getting the chance to buy the right to buy a house there, that one doesn't really count.

Takes more time to do that than to betray imo.

But indeed, to buy a house in Qeynos, you have to be a citizen, but it should go quickly now.
