I just started playing EQ2, after having played EQ1 since it first began. I am having a hard time finding anything similar to the Bind and Gate spells in EQ1. I have the Call to Kelethin spell, but it has a very long recast. Is there anything similar to Bind and Gate in EQ2? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Your call can be used to bind you almost anywhere within the city. (outside of your home, at the bank, in front of the lift etc). However, your CoK cannot bind you to T-Steppes (The Karanas) or any other combat zone.

The up side to all this is you will come to find that with all the public transportation available in Norrath now, getting around is much easier than it used to be (in EQLive).

Between the "insta-boats, the birds in Ant, Commonlands and T-Steppes, the carpets in Maj'Dul, the cloud transport in the OverRhelm, the horses in FayDwer and the Sokokors in Kunark, you can easily get out to wherever you need to go without too much time spent and the trip is always one way since you have a call for your ride home! And remember that with the exception of the 40s charge for taking a boat from Qyenos/Freeport to T-Steppes, all travel is free!

The one hour reset timer on your call is to keep it from being abused.

NOTE: In addition Druids get a variety of ports (as in EQLive) that will take them and their group to various druid rings making the trip even shorter!

Wizards/Warlocks also have access to several spires throughout the game and can take/send you.

There are quests you can do to get another call... I haven't done it yet, and I keep meaning to (but my quest journal is full!!) Also, once you get to around level 50 or so you can meander over to Maj'Dul and I believe you can do a series of quests to get a call there as well.

The whole bind-n-call system in EQ2 is set up differently than EQ1. When you die you go to a place in your current zone, instead of ending up nekkid back in Qeynos, lol.

Oh, there's a Legends of Norrath /claim item that let's you choose a tavern to call to!

Good point! I have a call to MajDul (but almost never use it)

And yeah - I always forget about the wizzy ports cause I never play finger wigglers!

Do we all get that or do I have to do something special (like run a quest or find a drop)?

It is a special loot card that you can get out of Legends of Norrath booster packs. So your acquisition of the item is solely dependent on how lucky you are when buying and opening packs to play with, or how lucky you are when getting drops from mobs (rarely mobs will drop LoN boosters).
