Hello all :)

I bought this game almost a year ago, but my old system wouldn't run it. Finally I upgraded to something decent and decided to pull out EQII again. Soooo I've started a little wood-elf warden girl named Prufrock, on the Unrest server.

I have her levelled up all the way to 11 already! Egads, the excitement! ...But since I've left the training island I'm a little at a loss as to what to do. Suddenly I seem to be dying a lot. Crafting is an utter mystery to me.
I'm stuck doing a repeatable quest in Nettlewood because I don't know what else to do with myself.

Coming from ffxi, I'm used to grouping a lot and meeting people quickly, but the town I'm in seems to be deserted, and boredom is setting in.

Everquest is a gorgeous game, I'm in love with the graphics and the quests have actually been great fun so far, but I'd really like to meet some people, join a guild, make some friends etc. Am I too low levelled to start grouping? If not, is there some area I should go to find others my level/start a group? Anyone have or know of a guild that wouldn't mind showing a newbie around?

Thanks for any advice ^^; And glad to meet you!

First of all, hit the 'U' key. This will bring up your guild window, and if you're not already in a guild will give you a list of some of the guilds that are actively seeking new members. There may well be more guild recruiting than those displayed in the window. If you see a guild you like the look of, /tell one of the recruiters (listed in the guild window) and have a chat to see if the guild might suit your play style. There are lots of different guilds, some of which will have rigorous recruitment policies, others that will welcome pretty much anybody.

You can start grouping at any level. Try exploring a little. There are a few low levels areas just outside the populated areas ('good' area names escape me, as I'm mainly into evil toons), where you will find quests galore - just look for the shiny yellow quill floating above NPCs' heads. Also, try taking the bell at the docks to other residential areas, where you will find loads more easy quests (like take this thing to so-and-so in such a zone). Most of the low level quests are designed to get you out & about exploring.

If you want to get into crafting, speak to the NPC outside the crafting area. They will give you a quest that will take you through the first 10 levels - and give you the recipe books you need as a reward for each stage.

"Good" hunting can be found next door to Willow Wood (wood elf racial home) in Forest Ruins. You can also take one of the bells to visit Oakmyst Forest, the Caves and the Peat Bog (all of these are "newbie gardens) but at lvl 11 you will be about ready to step outside the gates of Qyenos and begin hunting in the "wilds" of Antonica.

I suggest you take a run through the city, North and South Qyenos as well as Qeynos Harbor and Elddar Grove and look for feathers! There should be dozens of NPCs who are looking for a fresh young adventurer like yourself to go out and kill things for them!

With quest XP added to kill credit for the mobs, it won't be long before you've explored all Antonica has to offer and you're ready to strike out for really exotic lands like Thundering Steppes.

Good luck and safe hunting to you. And welcome to EQ2!

While you're running through all of the other residential zones, you will find there is a discovery location in each of them. Usually a fountain, monument or suchlike near the middle of the zone. This will give you extra adventure xp and aa xp if you are high enough level (over 10?) when you first discover the location. The zones outside of the town will usually have several discoveries (discos) e.g. Claymore Hill in Antonica

There are also Chat channels for lvls and good/evil alignment on your chat box ...talk to other peeps in the same area / lvl you are and many times people use these for creating groups ,,, good luck ..EQII is a great game.
