New to EQ2, lots of confusionFollow

Hey all,

So as the title states, I'm new to EQ2 and I'm finding the world kinda confusing. I used to play EQ as a druid and got up to lvl 59 then WoW came out and I have played a Paladin to 70 did the whole healing through raids and after TBC tanked raids and heroics. I've seen alot the content from WoW and just grew tired of same old thing so I decided to try out EQ2. I've been playing for a few days and I have an 18 lvl human swashbuckler and I'm still lost in the sauce. All my gear is severly out of date and I can't find any quests for better gear, how to make money, etc. Is there a tutorial guide out there somewhere? Also, what server is mostly EST and has lots of new people i can group with?

Eq2 is a great game, but when you'renew to it, it can be a bit intimidating. It doesnt hold your hand as much as WoW does initially. A few things that will help you out are some other websites for eq2. For some great maps of the world, both outside and instances, I prefer eq2gamepressure. On the left side of the page you can access almost every map you need. They also point out various things you may find of importance. It will also tell you some of the available quests for those zones and their starting points.

For quests, like WoW, every quest giver will have an icon above their head. Instead of a gold ! it will be a glowing feather. When you have completed your quest you will see a red book icon. If you havent yet, make sure you run around all the burrows or neighborhoods of Qeynos for quests. It will make you get to know the area of the city, plus those quests give some decent rewards and/or xp. While doing quests, if you dont know where to go next, you can look here or eq2i.com for help.

After you've completed the city qyests, you have a few places you can venture to. In the city are areas such as Vermins eye ( ent found in the peat bog, crypt of betrayal, or down below, all located on those maps) and are for levels 15-25.

you can also head outside to Antonica. 2 places to check out besides Antonica in general are Blackburrow, and Stormhold. These might require help though, as they are heroic (group) mobs.

As for your gear,if you can not seem to find decent gear by quests, you can also check the broker for cheap upgrades. Brokers are located in a few areas, the most popular one found in Qeynos Harbor. Locate Aliindar at location 861, 103 aand you can search for upgradeson your weapons, armor, and combat abilities.

As for combat ailities, when you level up, your new spells are the lowest power they canbe at apprentice 1. While not important in the lower levels, once you start getting higher you will want to upgrade those to adept 1 or higher. Adept 1s drop from treasure chests and you can buy them off the broker. You can also sell things on the broker to other people as well to make you more money.

hopefully that should give you a good beginning on where to go. If you have any questions just ask

Indeed...this game can be a bit of a learning curve for newbies and no doubt you've already discovered how very different EQII is from the original EQ.

You might want to consider joining a guild..one that is able to help you get acclamated.

It's hit and miss really...some guilds are really good at helping out new players and some are not.

Just a suggestion. =) Good luck..stick with it...it gets easier...promise!!
