Did they alter the mobs in RoK?Follow

#1 Dec 18 2007 at 3:02 PM Rating: Decent
The last few days have been almost hellish, it takes all I have to just take down one single non-named, non-heroic mob that is even one level below me.

If I start out with full health and power against one mob, I'll lose without tsunami (which seems to be buggy lately) and a heal.

It's driving me nuts really, very irritating.

IF anything they need to nerf the ROK mobs, however I don't think they have altered them any.

It's odd really, I posted this yesterday just after reaching 78, it took me two hours to get a measely 10% xp. But that's basically my fault for doing writs first, not that much xp to be had from those after the first time.

I had no problems in Kylong Plains, the Fens and at the beginning of the Jungle. Sure, adds were a problem at times, but usually things went smoothly. But these last few days those mobs just hit me for about 1k of damage, lot of attacks are abilities (hence not riposted by tsunami, making it a bit more useless) and those tend to hit me most of the time. Forget my avoidance, those mobs just do not miss much.

I haven't noticed any issues with my monk. Although stop doing writs and do the quests for xp. Loads of quests and you get usually 2% for each one, minus the killing xo. If you havent made it there yet, workon the dwarf quests in Jersath Wastes, over by the docks. It's a long series, but the mobs are right there. Once you get past the initial few you can pick up 4 quests at once. Go kill a bit, bring them to him and its 8% a pop. Then he sends you on to his brother in Skyfire, same deal less quests to grind. Sweet monk rewards at the end too. I was able to get about 1 level total just doing those quests.

As for mobs, I'll keep an eye out this week, but I haven't noticed anything different.

It's my next step, pretty much cleared out the solo quests and some heroics in the Jungle (first quests for Sebilis are doable on your own, you don't need to go deep inside, just the entrance and mezzanine area which have solo mobs) so heading to the Wastes is the only option now.

I've started there and have raised my faction with two groups already, so now I can start the quests at the shipyard.

As for my experiences, most likely just a bout of bad luck. It happens, from time to time.

I am curious to see how your monk is geared and AA spec'd TBH because I never really had much problems with mobs omw to 80 however at 77 I did start wearing lvl 77 legendary gear.

Check out the link in my sig, it leads to the EQIIplayers site, it's fairly up to date.

At this point my str is at around 650, agi and sta a bit above 500. Mit is pretty low, avoidance at a good 11000 (defensive stance).

Armour isn't lvl 77, going to check that out then, even wear a lvl 70 fabled chest item. The 72 mastercrafted one isn't an improvement.

definitely keep an eye on the quest gear rewards. Ufortunately they really forgot about brawlers this expansion so they are hard to fins, but there are a lot of decent upgrades. Most of the stuff out there legendary or treasured, actually beat out T7 fabled gear. I swapped a lot of my raid gear for quest items or stuff on the broker.

One of the things I noticed in your gear is that you dont have many procs on your stuff, and a couple of them are forheals. if youre out soloing thats cool, but if you tend to group a bit, look for some with +melee damage or +crit. It makes a big difference in how fast your mobs die. Your resists are high so if you wanted you can knock those down a bit to get more procs, and STR. Str plays a big part in bringing them down fast.

your link you are in Def? I compared my own to yours and I am in offensive. Definitely look at Mit and that may help you survive more.

If you look at my gear, while some of my stats are lower than yours, I went mainly for the procs, as for raiding, it helps a lot. Most of those items I am wearing you can easily get through the broker or through quests and instances. The tunic I am wearing I got in Howling Stones, and it was better than my fabled Gi from Mayong. You only need a group of 6. You want the Quarrelsome items that drop in the instances.

but definitely definitely do those dwarf quests. My wrists are one of the rewards

I solo most of the times, about the only time I group is with a guild group. I tend to be the tank then though, dps isn't at that time my concern. Although it's always nice I suppose. Some of my stats are off on the site though, my strength is definitely above 600 at the moment. Higher health too.

I'm always a bit cautious to upgrade armour when I'm not lvl 80, even if only to preserve pp. Things are expensive, but I will definitely be looking for those weapons you have, quite good ones. (as are other parts, I might have to convince the guild to indeed go for Howling Stones for a while!)

I have to admit, replacing armour with the quest items has been pretty easy so far, very good material to be had!

Thanks for the tips btw and gratz on 80!

Thanks on the gratz! My primary weapon is buyable, but be prepared to spend oodles of cash on it. I got mine cheap at 10 pp but I have seen them selling for up to 70. Someone didnt know what they had when I bought mine. My secondary is the soulfire. SOD quest and then you have to kill Mayong. However, if you spec in the AAs for unarmed, youre doing almost as much damage as having two fabled t7/t8? (cant remember which) weapons. Also remember to check out adornments. Thats my next thing, now that I have gotten my new gear.
As for upgrading before 80, I woudlnt worry too much about it. So much stuff drops that you can easily grab a few items here and there for cheap. Also, Im sure youve noticed, making pp questing is a breeze. Im bringing in about 4pp a day not including broker stuff and thats only playing for about 3-4 hours.

I have to admit, making money is pretty easy. I'm not brokering much (collection items are either sold for less than they are worth or are the rare ones my guild can use for the moment, same with all the harvests) but money is made easily.

I went for altruism and crane flock myself in the final line and maxed the other stats with the remaining points. I've doubted about going for the Chi ability, but I've never been comfortable fighting at a low health, I might try it out once, instead of altruism for instance. So I've put no points in the unarmed line.

I've wondered though, how would a group of six monks with altruism on everyone fare? Cannot be killed at all I'ld say. Still hope to find that out someday.

LOL! That would be a neat thing to see. Chi is a great thing to have even if you dont go unarmed. And really you can use Chi at anytime. Hubby has altruism but only time he ever uses it is in high risk groups or raids. Ive got Chi, crane flock, and superior parry? Cant remember that last ones name.

Also, you using Devestation fist? I <3 that spell more than anything else.

I had the adventure pack when it was released, however I only fully completed it to get the Vampire L&L a couple of months ago. That's when I discovered the Devastating Fists. (never went far enough in the pack to be able to buy the spell)

I have no idea how I played without it!

It's great to walk up to a (non-heroic nor named nor arrows up) mob and take it out with only one push of a button. Sure, for ten seconds I can't do very much else, but it's still fun to do!

I've taken Altruism for the guild groups really, it's a decent back-up for the healer if I fail as tank or we get an add somehow (like for instance the invisible books in the Den, quite a surprise when it one-shotted our healer the first time) and I just can't give up my Crane Flock, it's a delight to use. But we might get another boost with the next expansion in the AA department, might be able to get three then.
