Can you level in EQ by leveling in small groups like 3-5/6 or is it better to solo.

FFXI Leveling was way more fun than WoW.

EQ2 is very flexible in that aspect. You can pretty much level anyway you can think of. Even high level friends can mentor you (which makes them become the same level as you).

This sounds like a question that would come from a Diablo or WoW player. Not insulting you now, cause I came that way and this question makes me ask another question.

In some games you get 100% exp for a solo kill and less for a duo kill and even less for a trio kill. i.e. 100% exp + (.66 * 100% exp) for each additional player in the group, So a grouping gives less than 100% exp to each member.

Is this the way EQ2 works or do all members in the group get 100% exp?

You will always split the XP with the rest of the group however, a full group (4, 5 or 6 player) will get an XP bonus to every kill which will offset the "loss" of XP to each player. In addition, a good group can always kill more mobs than a solo player. When a full group is clicking, they can usually kill non-stop with one or two DPS class characters pulling mobs back to the camp (in rotation) and the tank pulling aggro as the mob reaches the group.

Also remember that you get a (stacking) bonus for each player that mentors you and if you have "vit" you are earning double XP anyway. On top of all that, there are bonus potions for XP and crafting to make things go even faster.

Put it all together and you can almost hit the level cap before you roll up the toon!
