I just purchased a salescrate and when I try to place it,I get a message that that I need to upgrade my room. I tried upgrading the flooring and changing the access to allow visitors, with no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Each type of room has a limited amount of slots you can have boxes in to sell from. OPen the broker window and make sure you don't have yours filled with containers already.
Sounds like you live in a 1 room apartment, as most players do, including all my gals. You get to have 2 sales crates in a 1 roomer so if you have more than that now you'll have to decide which 2 you want to use.
