I had just the trial version installed until last night so I haven't gotten the chance to play yet. One piece of feedback though, not on the game but with the difficulty getting it. I went to 6 stores last night looking for the boxed version and none of them had it. A couple of places claimed they were sold out, but I don't think they even had any to begin with. All of the games at both places had spots on the shelf with the label on the shelf for the place they were along with the price. Neither business had an empty spot on the shelf with an EQ2 label. I ended up breaking down and purchased/downloaded from SOE's online store. Smiley: tinfoilhat

I just like having the physical media available for situation where I might have to nuke the machine and re-load so I don't waste all that time downloading it.

Voted 'pleased' for one reason only - the Sarnak.
I just love my Dragon Broodmother Wizzie ...

As far as content is concerned Kunark is not that good. No, let me correct that. It sucks. I'll tell you why:

1: Newbie Armor: Why do you get armor better than (former) legendary stuff for crap quests? You need to wait until your late 20ies until you can replace newbie armor with better stuff. That's insane and puts at least two tiers of crafters completely out of job.

2: Where are the midlevel zones? We're talking a hole continent that provides a starting city and there's no 30-50 zone ??? Not good. Not good at all. A real real big sucker, if you ask me. And this being a poll you obviously do *smile*.

3: Strain on PCs: Those extra large zones add a major strain on PCs. Until Kunark i've needed about 1.2 to 1.5 GB RAM. In TD i often am forced to reduce graphic settings in order to keep memory usage below 2GB. Again, this is neither good nor tolerable. It just plain sucks.

But the Sarnak .... They are lovely, well done and worth every cent of that expansion.
And in two years we'll get our beastlords *grin* - assuming there's one expansion per year and Luclin comes after Velious ...

This is being corrected. Domino did a non-nerf, improvement pass on MC armor that should be on Test soon, if it's not already. ETA GU 41.

Ummmm, ok, let's go ahead and talk about this. Personally, I like the noob armor in Kunark, especially considering you're never going to make money as a crafter in t1 and 2 regardless of whether or not the armor you get is crap, not to mention why the hell should you wait till your late 20s to get equipment that doesn't make me feel like a 65 year old geriatric geezer? It's about time we finally get some decent equipment at lower levels. Not to mention the lack of 30-60 content in Kunark is ok with me because expecting them to do content for all levels with every expansion is a little absurd, don't you think? Especially cause once you get to the Gorowyn docks there's that crazy griffon sitting there that takes you to....*fanfare* The Butcherblock Mountains! Conveniently a level 20+ zone for those of you who are finished with the fantastic noob zone that is "teh Gorowyn". So for those of you lvl 5 crafters trying to make money off of it, here's a thought: HOW ABOUT YOU SPEND ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF TO DING 20! It took me less than 24 hours to get my Sarnak Assassin from 1-20 as well as his Woodworker lvls to 20 as well, that means that trying to make money off levels that people spend less than 3 days in anyway is a wee bit redundant. However, i completely agree with the strain on my PC, having to play on extreme performance or lower as is, is quite frustrating, especially since it looks like all the characters are cutouts from freakin Gumbi! All in all im very satisfied, however, complaining about being too powerful? That's a laugh, i deserve the right to blow through the first 20 levels, ive done before on my main i have no desire to scrimp for that crappy little 4 agi item when a kill task gives me absolutely fantastic equipment, and considering the equipment for t7 Kunark drops is pretty badass as is, I don't see why this double standard for lvls 1-20 needs to be implemented. This is all part of the leveling streamlining process and will be incredibly helpfull two years down the road when i've got my level 100 Warlock and decide I wanna try another class.

Content is awesome.

The new "pokemon style" artists really suck and should be sacked though. Just look at the fluorescent colours and the babyish looking Kunark frogloks. This is High Fantasy, not spongebob squarepants.

As far as RoK is concerned, overall, I am quite satisfied with it. Certain things have changed for me in gameplay as Ive noticed I needed to change my video settings to Raid instead of my normal Performance while in RoK zones which I do not mind really. I have also noticed that there are times, whether raiding or soloing that I suddenly lose my internet connection and reconnected to character select. Aside from those things above, I am pleased with this expansion!

I am loving this expansion because I can actually get something done without dying every other minute due to having to wear a piece of junk pulled out of an npc trash can as a quest reward. FINALLY, some armor that will do some good and allow me to actually play. I know a lot of the older players are rather ticked off that the newbies in RoK get "nice" armor because they didn't at those levels but that's just jealousy and sour grapes. It's not like SoE is taking it off the higher level player's backs and handing to the lower ones. As for me it was a hug /cheer when I realised I was getting decent gear for a change. That gives those of us who for whatever reasons are more solo gamers than groupers a nice lift that was sorely needed imho. Even having a higher level character doesn't mean I'm not happy for the new people starting out on this issue.

The content is very progressive and the quests take the player not only thru enjoyable lore and humorous story lines but they move them forward in levels smoothly without some of the gaps I sometimes noticed in the early days of EQ2.

Of course the visuals are great and I have always enjoyed the humorous details placed within quest text, npc names, and so on.

All in all, I give RoK two thumbs up and a huge /CHEER!

As I just voted there are 3 people that voted displeased with Rok and I really feel sorry for them :P

Krassmann this is not a low level expansion, it is made for only high level content.

Just like EoF was all content and old world is all level.

There is enough level 1-70 content and because they opened it up to 80 we need a full expansion of only high end content.

Also if crafters are trying to make money off of level 1-20 crafted gear then they need to either level up using writs or rethink who they are selling to.

Great Expansion, however, it dates the other parts of EQII imo. The quest prizes are better for level 10-20 quests now and way out of par with the rest of the game. That's good for anyone in Timorous... but for the average Quenosian... its kinda whacky. Wouldnt it be nice to revamp quest prizes. And... no... dont nerf the Kunark ones... they make the game balance a little better. For a soloist... its really nice. Sarnaks rock.. but boy.. are they slow... : )
