I patched today, first time in about 3 days?, and then when I tried to get into the game, and it saying that my issue of Windows Vista may cause EQ II to not run properly, and to install the latest Service Pack for Vista.

I have my PC and Vista tuned to automatically update and restart, and it hasn't done that, so I think there may be an issue with EQ II.

Anyone else having this same issue and can offer a way to repair it?

Just checking, but you know that with Vista you have to run EQ2 as Administrator?

Yeah, and I have it activated to do so.

More specifically, it says it may cause resource problems. Basically this patch has turned EQII into a major resource hog.

I use 2 Gig and have had little problem getting in or playing. Try turning off Aero or completely reverting to basic visuals in Vista and see if you can get in. You might not have enough memory for the ungodly system hog of Vista and now EQII.

To the best of my knowledge, their is no service pack for Vista yet. Although I really haven't checked lately so who knows.

I've never had an issue ever with logging into EQ with areo on, so I'll have to check again. But so far no good.

It's something new with the patch yesterday.

I suggested turning off Aero because it uses a lot of system resources. If your running any other resource intensive programs in the background, try turning them off and logging in.

Note that this is just a warning message. You can ignore the message and continue into EQ2.

Message makes no sense to me also. My machine is a brand new Visa 64 install with the latest patches. I was able to play EQ2 for several hours last night without any problems.

vista is just like XP. will be a year or more before the bugs are worked out of it.

yea MS.

loaded fine on XP. not real wild about the 5 hour update download though.

well it's not EXACTLY like XP since it runs on XP and has issues with Vista... :)
just kidding. Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be. Personally, I have no use for Vista and have no intention of installing it on any machine until I have no other choice. Vista, to me, is an answer to a question no one ever asked.

but, to the OP... a couple of people in my guild have mentioned the same issue. They get a message and can continue on into game, then about an hour or so (there doesn't seem to be a set time frame) the game freeze or just kicks them out.

I myself have noticed a lag in system performance since RoK came out. At first I thought it was because of everyone going into zones, etc, but I noticed it going on in Feerott as well, and that's not a zone touching Kunark, so maybe it's the patch itself. Lots of people have mentioned that this expansion seems to take up a lot of resources. I seem to recall KoS had a similar issue and SOE resolved it. Hopefully that'll happen here as well.
