Does anyone have a good tutorial on writing macros? The drag and drop kind are easy but I am talking about actually typing commands. I have no idea what to type or what is even possible.

As for the drag and drop macros, has anyone else found that you can only perform 2 combat arts no matter how many you put in a macro? For example, if you put 3 spells in your macro, it generally performs the first one, then either the second or the third.

Thanks for the help.

it depends on what kind of command you're looking to write. What are you looking for? And yes, only 2 spells in one macro due to queuing. You can only queue up one spell to cast when you are casting your first spell.

I guess I am looking to learn how to write an automatic command so that I will automatically use a skill when the reuse timer is up. It would be nice to be able to write a macro that would automatically do the correct skill when trade-skilling, or a macro to automatically use a potion to counter effects, etc. I am really kind of in the dark as far as the possibilities when it comes to writing the commands. What can you make it do?

Last I heard there was no way to time or pause a macro. Seems to me I recall they did it deliberately, to avoid AFK playing.

I could be wrong, though.

Isn't there a way to make a macro so that every time you see a certain script in your chat window you perform a certain action? This seems really basic.

That is basic, but its also the root of a lot of unattended play exploits and 3rd party illegal macro systems. As such, its not something that you can do from within the client directly. There are, as mentioned, unsupported 3rd party apps that can do what you are asking, but we don't discuss them here and your use of them would lead to banning if you were caught using them.

Yeah I understand that if you have a macro for everything it would be illegal obviously, but isn't there a way to automatically perform a combat art/spell when you read certain text in your chat box or something?

You would have to get a script that would be able to read and register certain things. Needless to say it would not be allowed by the Terms of Service.

Hmmm. That is kind of disappointing. I understand SOE doesn't want a bunch of 3rd party software floating around, but even script based MUD games allow these basic macros.
