I am sure I will get bashed for this but I really dislike grouping with them. Am I the only person who finds it annoying when they mez EVERYTHING? I mean you get a heroic encounter with 8 down arrow mobs you don't need them mezzed. With a full group the AE's can wipe them out pretty quick. I mean sure if you get 2 or 3 ^^^ mobs yea we could use mez then, but I just think its stupid in a full group to mez 1 encounter.

I guess I shouldn't blame the class, just the people who play them. The way eq2 is made they are not anywhere near as important as in eq1 (once again IMO).

Yeah, you've been grouping with bad enchanters. Any enchanter class who, outside of extreme examples, is mezzing in-encounter mobs doesn't know what they are doing. Mezzing should only really be used for out-of-encounter adds that are beyond the ability of the tank/healer to maintain control over. In-encounter control should be handled by dazes and stuns and stifles. In fact, using a properly timed combination of these abilities can allow a good enchanter (or coercer at leat) to keep a mob harmless through the entire fight. I've taken in the case of a really efficiently played coercer, for example (pats himself on the back), an enchanter can even sometimes replace a healer slot in a group, as they lower incoming damage so greatly and add so much to overall group DPS.

There are a lot of poor chanters out there because its a tougher-than-average class to play properly. If you want to play with a good chanter sometime, look me up and I'll log in my coercer. I'll make you jealous.

you are correct.

while that may have been a particularly bad enchanter, they really are not as important in EQ2 as they are in EQ1. another tank would work just as well. in raids they may be handy, but not really needed in a dungon group. better off tanking the add and shaving some hitpoints off it while you wait to get to it.

The roles certainly are different.

And yeah, IMO it's more appropriate to blame the player, not the class.
