Hey guys, I'm an EX-wower who is thinking of picking up EQ2 to play as a bit more of a casual game (sounds a bit backwards right?) and I was wondering how good Beserkers are just in general, and at soloing.

Now, I am interested in using just a Big ****-off two hander, so if there is a better class for this then point me in the right direction! Also, I am interested in Crafting, does your race affect this at all? I was considering going Barbarian because I like the look and they have high strength (or so I believe).

And in groups, are they generally invited for melee DPS or for tanking? Because I like to DPS but I also like to tank on occasion (played warrior in WoW mainly).

Zerkers rock! Good in groups and solo. Personally, I tend to go for 1-handed axe & tower shield, occasionally swapping to dual-wield or 2-handed for off tanking. They can also use bows - which I use for pulling mobs a lot.

Guardians and berserkers are probably the best tanks in the game (although all fighter classes can tank quite adequately). Berserkers have a reasonable DPS output, but tend to burn through power pretty quickly. They also have a good range of AOE spells. Guardians are not usually renowned for their damage output.

A lot will depend on how you choose to spend your AA points. You can go for out & out tanking, or a more solo/duo mix of abilities.

To a very small extent your race can help your crafting. Each race can get traits that allow you to get an extra +5 to certain trade skills. I am not sure which ones get what, but that extra +5 wouldn't be my deciding factor personally. I am sure you can find out on this website under the Basic Information/Racial Traditions.

Crafting in Eq2 isn't like WOW at all. You have your adventure level and your crafting level. When you make things your exp in trade skilling goes up. From level 1 to 9 you can make pretty much anything. Then at level 10 you specialize in one of them that limits what you can make. Then again at level 20 you specialize down to 1 tradeskill. For example my main is a tailor. At level 10 I became an outfitter which can make weapons, plate, chain, cloth, leather armor. At level 20 I had to decide if I wanted to be an armorer, tailor, or weaponsmith. I picked Tailor so I can only make leather and cloth armor lvl 20+.

Im not sure what you mean by more casual, but honestly WOW is about as casual as it gets from my exp. Eq2 is better IMO, but if your looking for something easier and more casual gamer friendly EQ2 is not going to be any better.

Far as grouping goes at higher levels people probably won't be looking at a berserker as a DPS class. However it sounds like if you want to use a big 2h weapon that will be your best bet though.
