Girdle Of Spirits and LiesFollow

Does anyone have this girdle or know how it works ? It says it summons a pet to aid the caster for 30 seconds. Does the pet heal you or does it help you fight ? 2nd question - Can you summon pet anytime you want or does it happen by a proc. The stats are very nice + 18 wis and great resist but is very expensive on broker so I dont want to purchase if pet summons by a proc. Thanks in advance for your help.
