Booted while zoningFollow

#1 Oct 08 2007 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
Hope that maybe someone can help me with this. I get booted, not all the time, but at least 5 out of 10 times when I zone. It could be anytime, anywhere. It just boots me out. Any ideas on why and what I can do to fix this annoying problem. Would appreciate any suggestions, advice, help...*smile*

It's a rather common actually. I haven't had it happen to me in awhile but it used to have it happen anytime I moved through the freeport zones on my fury. Never found out what the problem was tho. Betrayed to qeynos and haven't had it happen on any of my characters yet. My only advice is to avoid the zone entrances when possible.

My guess is RAM issue. How much do you have?

2 GB FTW!

Because you are dumping and loading the game in RAM, something which Windows is notorously bad at, when you are getting booted that is my guess. More RAM will help Windows during it's more ineffecent times.

I hear of people having this issue if they leave their anti-virus software running.

I'd say I get booted about 10% of the time when I zone. It's extremely annoying when it happens, especially since you then have to wait for the game to actually see you as logged out before you can re-enter.

I do have Norton active when I play, but didn't think it had any adverse effect other than yelling at me every time EQ2 patches. I'll have to play around with it and see if the problem clears up.

I've always installed and played with anti-virus and firewall on, no matter what Sony says. I did occasionally get a Trojan horse report when zoning in EQ I, but I have not had a single problem in EQII.

It's not a ram issue it's not a pc issue it's a SOE issue. 6 people die in castle mistmore revive 5 get booted. 24 People enter Emerald halls 24 people get booted to desktop. SoE's duct tape just didnt stick so they need to retape some problems

Thank you all for your help. We added the additional memory, got a new vid card and we do have Norton also. Still get booted. *sighs* oh well..not going to stop playing but it does get annoying at times. Just sit and yell at my monitor and get back in the game. *laughing* Thanks all again.
