Received the Journeyman Service Quest where I have to do 50 harvests in the Thundering Steppes. Problem is, I haven't found any way of getting to the Thundering Steppes.
Can anyone give me a hint on how to get there?

You'd have to run through Butcherblock to the Butcherblock docks and catch a boat to Thundering Steppes. It's a little hair-raising at low levels, but definately not impossible.

Getting there can be dangerous but is pretty straightforward as Calthine puts it.
Do remember that your harvesting skill has to be 90 at least to harvest in TS though! You get the updates for any sort of harvest, so if only one is of that level, it'll work too.

Speak to the griffon tamers on your way and they will let you ride the griffons in future. Saves a lot of time and a lot of repair bills. There is one near the Greater Faydark zone line and another just before the cliff path to the docks.
The third Griffon tamer is by the LFay zoneline. You must have all 3 updates before you can ride any of them.
Stay on the roads and keep your eyes peeled and you can run through BBM without invis.

I haven't updated with the LF tamer, but can still ride from GF entrance to docks & back
