What's the biggest threat to the MMO world today? RMT's? The Nerfbat? 2 million adolescents leaving WoW for Norrath?

NOPE! Kiara gives us the inside scoop in: There Goes My Secret Identity!

That is crazy...to think that crossdessing is the true dark side of MMO's :P sure i play a female character every now and then...but its not like i try and do anything. That is just the worst idea possible imo...ahh well back to waiting for morning to come...lol

Most of my characters are female. I am female in RL but I do play a male as well. He is infact, the second one I play most. Why do I do it? I think he is adorable.

so, umm, does this mean that women playing male characters is wrong as well, or is this just another part of the modern hypocrisy from today's society and standards?

ok, rant is now set to OFF position, but seriously, I do think this is the dumbest move that a company could do.

Thanks to Kiara for that post... I have now had the pleasure of Coke Zero shooting out of my nostrils... it burns us, my precious. it burns us. :)

Seriously though... After my first toon, I decided to create an alt. Feeling a little cheeky, I created a female gnome coercer and tailor named Egoiste. Hit the Outpost and within 15 minutes, had people offering me gear and upgrades. Now, maybe it was just the climate of the Outpost at the time, but when Sikaan (my first toon, male kerra) was on the Isle of Refuge, I didn't get any such offers.

Personally, I'll know it's all over when I see someone with the macro...

/emote says 'a/s/l'?

once again... it burns us, my precious. it burns us. :P

"If I have to stare at this toons *** for 60+ levels its at least going to be a good looking one." This was a comment made by a male playing a female toon in WOW once. I don't see a problem with playing toons of the opposite sex as long as your not trying to do anything weird. I won't go into examples of weird but I am sure most can imagine a few things that come to mind.

If a game was based off mature content I could see perhaps banning it. For example that game Second Life which is kinda geared towards on-line dating (I guess?). A guy playing a girl toon and trying to find a BF would be kinda nasty.

I actually remember one time grouping with a guy and a girl in eq1. The girl played a male character and the guy played a girl character. They was actually dating (or married not sure which).

In any case nah this isn't a big problem. And yea I have a female toon and she dresses kinky (well at least will when lvl 20 rolls around).

It's the logic of the people who write those articles that amuse me. Im not a dwarf/Elf/DarkElf/Fae IRL so does that mean that the ONLY class I should be allowed to play is a Human??

Yeah...really you shouldnt be restricted to what race/gender you can play :P I dont like games that restrict genders to classes. There is why i dont like most korean games, due to the fact that if i wanna be a archer ive gotta be a female...lol so this is just proof that people shouldnt be restricted to gender in games :P

You're kidding, right? Boobs get in the way of archery, I wonder why archers have to be women? 'Cause it kept them out of melee??

I just had to reply to this post. I am a male and my main is a female named Nakasoto. This is an inside joke in my houshold. There are seven of us and I am the only male. That is right my 5 kids are all girls. When I first stated playing EQII, I could not figure what I wanted to with gender or a name. My wife offered the name Nakasoto. It means inside/outside in Japanese. So to be in I had to be female. :-)

Thats highly non-logical, females could serve a fight much better by being in the front lines distracting male enemies with erotic dances and what not.

Anyways isn't that a invasion of privacy? They can't actually require you to put yourself on a webcam can they?
And who cares? If you are concerned about being seduced in a video game by the wrong sex you should go outside and ask yourself why you would even flirt with someone online.
Most people I know would rather create a model of the opposite sex then one of the same sex.

As a female I've always played one, but ot because of gender, but because they just look so much better than their male counter parts. Hubby has males, but he does have a few female characters as well, based on the same opinion. IN EQ2, for example, a lot of the Gis for bralwers just look awful on the males, but fantastic on females. He whines constantly that my gear looks better on my monk than on his bruiser.
We've now got two Aresi femme alts that tag along with our mains, Null and Voyde. The male fae just look really odd, but the femals again, look awesome.

Glad I dont play a game that decides what you can and can not be in a fantasy game. Smiley: oyvey

I see the price of female characters going up on ebay for that game. If its only on character creation its not going to change anything anyways. Just get some girl to sit in front of your webcam for 5 minutes.

Oh and it seems to me that the developers spend more time on the female characters then on the male.

Nope im not kidding...thats really what i had to do to play an archer/ranger in one of the korean games i tried...thats why i dont like restrictions on MMOs for gender/race selection. Once again there was another game i played that Elves were female only while a couple others had male only or both genders...sad that elves dont reproduce with males elves huh...:P

and whoever mentioned their name came from a japanese word i just recently made an alt named Anikii...which means Big Brother in japanese (next to onii-san ect) heh well thats off topic so...

Isn't that more the Yakuza term for big brother? (great Kitano movie too btw)

Anyway, to avoid being accused of trying to derail this thread:

It's silly.

But ingame there at times is a different attitude towards female chars and male ones.

In EQ1 I heard that all the time - "You're a chick, people give you stuff ALL the time." It just wasn't true, at least not to the extent I was hearing.

Don't get me wrong, it definitely didn't happen all the time. I've seen it happen a couple of times, mostly when the female character sort of played for it, if I can put it that way.

I suppose it's a bit better than just plain begging for it.

Funny though, I've received next to none of those sort of tells in EQII.

But even if I was only a 52 pallie in EQ, I got frequent pleads for help from 'newbies'. Mostly regulars trying to boost their pocket contents that way, or so I suppose anyway.

Yeah i know on EQ1 a friend of mine kept getting free stuff because she was a female...it gave me a laugh but it is still sad that people give females free stuff just for being females...of course i know by now that it can be for other reasons too...lol

When hubby and I started playing EQ1 for the first time he decided to make a woodelf femme and I had a high elf femme. We were playing in Gfay when some guy came up to my hubby and started flirting with him. It was a new concept to us, and he just sat there, dumbfounded. next thing we knew this other guy opened trade with my hubbys char and gave him a boatload of stuff for free: bags, armor, money, etc. Hubby stammered thanks, while I laughed my butt off. From then on for the longest time I gave him such hell about being the ***** of Norrath.Smiley: lol

Do female trolls get given free stuff? Do they actually count as female?

Does it mean that only RL gays can play a fae? (only joking, my main is a fae)
