14 hrs!!! TDG FunFollow

#1 Sep 25 2007 at 4:49 AM Rating: Decent
So I keep hitting refresh to get the first update to their 404 page. Hope everything is going well over there!!!

So while they are working on their stuff over at SOE, let me hit you up with a little of what I'm trying to get done here in my own spare time.

I'm working on the RoK skin. My graphic design program has been a little buggy and I've lost my work a few times now due to crashes and my lack of hitting the save button. Very frustrating, but I've done the steps on some of the design parts so much that I think I can do them in my sleep. Hoping* to have the new design, or a least a screenie of it up before the close of the month. If not the close of the month by Oct 13, which will give it a nice month exposure before the expansion releases. A few things that I'm going to do for this skin is make the header much smaller vertical wise. I feel that the EOF header has taken up way too much room and needs to be cut, like in half. I'm going to keep the link bar across the top though, and hope to get the gallery up and working sometime afterwards, because I love galleries.

Another thing I'm working on is a solid spell section. Where you have a full list with all the pertinent information in that list, and a link to a post for each specific spell so they can be discussed. I've already locked down the warden's spell section as I work on this, so hopefully it won't take too much more effort to work this out. At the moment, I'm just trying to get the format nailed down, once that is done its all about data collection, and I have players chomping at the bit to just populate some data.

Also, I'm hoping to get a Lore section, and a quest section done. The quest section will mainly start with the Epic quest, and move on from there. The lore section I'm working on my own personal site now and will port it to TDG once it gets good and polished. I'm hoping to tell some nice stories, from the perspective of an adventurer going through the stories, instead of just copying in game text. Best example would be the one that I wrote for the guild that I'm in...

Chapter I Rescuing the Sage

It is not know if Sebir was the grandmaster of this rouse or not, but he was the one that initiated this sordid adventure. We were having fun, minding our own business in Lavastorm when we were approached by Sebir. He is a historian that claimed that his master, some kind of Sage of Ages was being held captive in a pit section of Lavastorm named Maiden's Gulch by a drakota monster named Vyr'Drais the Vicious. We ventured in to this maiden's gulch and fought the vicious. After slaying the drakota, we found the Sage and approached him.

The Sage says, "Thank you my friend, thank you! I do not understand why those Drakota attacked me. I cannot be of any threat to them; I am but a humble chronicler!"

We then asked him who he was, he replies "I am known as the Sage of Ages, a neutral historian charged with scribing the events of history so that their lessons will not be forgotten, or repeated. It surprises me that these creatures would be sent to attack me."

Suprised that something would send vicious drakota to attack a weakling biped we inquired further, to which our response was "Yes, Drakota rarely act of their own initiative. They are weapons used by Dragonkind to fulfill their own designs. I do not know what I could have done to anger the Scalelords. I only scribe the truth and have done so for many centuries"

Outraged at this type of action from the Dragonkind, Chuut inquiries of the Sage who he believes could have sent these creatures after him. The Sage thinks for a moment and responds, "There are few Dragons still active in this world. The Age of War and the Age of Cataclysms have taken their tolls on the Dragons as well and they too are recovering. However, there are a few who gained in the destruction. The Lord Nagafen and the Lady Vox have prospered as others have declined in power. Thesse Drakota must have been sent by the Lord Nagafen as he would be the only one to possess the power to do so."

Curiously we dig deeper in to the mystery asking why Nagafen would do such a thing. Growing impatient the Sage hastely comments "I know not why he has done this thing and it greatly worries me. Maybe he believes I know too much, or he detests the truths that I write. I wish to know what has caused him this distress, but I fear for my own existence if I were to come any closer to his lair."

Chuut steps forward to volunteer our numbers, the Sage refuses saying "I would not send you on such a quest. I will not have the blood of my rescuers on my hands by asking such a thing. It is far too dangerous to send anyone into the lair of Nagafen, and I will not do so to satisfy my own curiousity or my own peace of mind."
