I just crafted 14 pieces of level armor with my level 20 armorer. The tradeskill level didn't budge. It's about 10 points below max. What's the most effective way to quickly push this skill number up?

That's 14 pieces of level 17 armor by a level 20 armorer.

level or skill, hon? Leve will go up automatically when you make non-grey recipes. Skill requires using white-con tradeskill arts during the crafting round to get skillups.

If it's your skill, you probably didn't pick up the new Arts you got at level 20. They're in your knowledge book (we get new arts at 2, 10, 20, 30, 40 51, and 61). While you can get skillups using arts that have geryed out, they're few and far between and your skill will fall below your cap and give you a hard time getting Pristine.

OK, I tend to craft items 3 levels below my craft level to manage durability loss. These items are blue, not white, but I still manage to get pretty good skill increases with my other crafting alts.

I prefer to use the durability icons from level 10 rather than the progress icons from level 20. They are both white and not grey. Do most people use both types on their bar? Does it matter which are used since both are white?

I'll ask again - are you talking level or skill? You keep saying level but I think you mean skill. Skills are shown in your Persona Window in the Tradeskill tab. Yours will be something like xxx/100.

You missed what I said above.: You must use white-con arts (in this case your level 20's) to get regular and reliable skillups. Your skill cap goes up 5 points every level; if you use those white con arts for a couple of combines you'll get your 5 skillups and then you can go back to using whichever ones you prefer.

So, to get your skills caught to your cap, use your newest arts.

Skillups are tied directly to using your arts and you gotta use white con ones to get them. This matters less as you level up and the arts stay white longer; and probably won't matter at all when Kunark launches and we get the promised TS Art revamp.

BTW, you get more XP for white-con recipes, you're robbing yourself of XP by only doing blue recipes. The trick is to use both progress and durability Arts, not just the Arts from one Tier (there's lots of right ways to apply your Arts, but only using one Tier's 's arts is one of the wrong ways).
