Hello all. Ive played many mmo's over the past couple years, including EQ2, but mostly LOTRO and WoW lately. However, I am getting very sick of both of them and am thinking of returning to EQ2. I have a few questions:

1) (This may be answered in FAQ or elsewhere but i figured Id ask as long as i have other questions) I played EQ2 before any expansions came out, so if i was going to return, what all would it be necessary to purchase as far as expansions/adventure packs?

2) Is there any particular class that is good for starting/soloing? I played a druid (cant remember if it was a fury or warden) to 16 or so in the past and enjoyed it but was thinking of trying something new. I know its personal prefrence but im open to suggestions =)

3) Is there any particular server you would recommend for a starter like me? I would enjoy being on a populated server that has a fair share of lower level characters. or perhaps i guild that would welcome someone new to the game.

Thanks in advance for answering these questions that you probably get 20 times a day =)

If you buy Echo's of Faydwer it comes with every expansion and core game.
But you have to buy each adventure pack separately.

I suggest somthing along the lines of a Monk or a Bruiser, just my opinion but I seem to solo just fine at lvl 49 as a Monk =)

I play on the Antonia Bayle Server and its most always Heavy population, and being an RP server most everyone will be there to help you and such, but again just my opinion.

And to wrap this all up I would really recommend coming back to EQ2, seeing that you played before all of the expansions I would really have to say that the game has improved very, very much since then. There are a lot of new mounts for you to get, new little features such as climbing walls (climable ones), viewing items by using Ctrl + Left click, soooo many quests and content to keep you satisfied forever, and a lot more.

So if you come back and decide to play on AB (Antonia Bayle) Hit me up!

Gl on whatever decision you make =)

As for soloing class, any class can solo. That said, there are some classes that solo better than others such as:

Necros
Shadow Knights
Monks
Wardons
I would say Furys from what I know about them
and Rangers, somewhat, although they find it tough to solo in dungeons or where there are lots of social mobs around.

As for best server,it depends on what you want. If you want a lot of overcrowding,go to Antonia Bayle. However, if you want a server which is a lot less crowded but still has a number of folks for grouping, consider the server that I am on: Permafrost.

Yes, get all expansion packs especially EOF. Geting the ingame expansions such as Split Paw is not needed.

Sirmorte
Level 38 Shadow Knight
House of Rising Phoenix
Parmafrost server.

I'm no expert, but I've played a bit and read the forums. Popular thought is that any starting character can be modified into a very powerful high end state. I guess it depends on your objective and taste of gameplay. Persons who solo often do well with a conjurer or necromancer. Certain classes are sought after for groups and raids, such as priests, mages, etc.

The All in One Compilation bundle has all the expansions for $40, including the origimal game.

Any moderately populated server should do the trick. I'm on Befallen and enjoy it. The real issue is whether you want to PvP or role play as well. Hope this helps.
