What class should I play.Follow

I know folks ask this question a thousand times a day so sorry for taking up anyones time.

Anyway, what class/race mix should I play? The usual types of classes I play are the DPS/Melee classes. For EQ I played a monk,bard and ranger. Raided on the bard and ranger for 2 years and left EQ for EQ2. Sadly I was dissapointed by EQ2 at launch and decided to try WoW. I have been playing/raiding in WoW for almost 2 years now and am realizing the game, given a few expansions, will be nothing more than a huge rep grind with only a handful of raiding instances per expansion. I played a hunter ( DON'T JUDGE ME QQ) and a rogue.

I do like playing DPS classes but the bard was always my fave however, I do not want to pick a class which is not really needed/wanted for end game raiding. Which class/race combos would best work out for someone like me?
