Lots of folks are concerned about LON and the in game items for a variety of reasons. Gallenite posted this today, I thought I'd pass it on.

Quote:
Since the release of the Bottled Intellect reward item (currently: 100% power recovery, usable once per 24 hours), the concerns regarding the power of this item have not gone unheard.

Legends of Norrath is a fun addition to EQ and EQ2. On the game-side, our goal is to make sure that the item rewards are interesting and make people happy to find them, yet not so powerful that guild communities view them as mandatory for their members to possess.

Random item rewards from LON are definitely not intended to be part of the expected upgrade path for EQ2 customers, meaning that we will not be balancing the difficulty of the game around them.

This item in its current form in the beta for LON has stirred much debate, and rightfully so. It was initially viewed as acceptable in the context of a "last-ditch, one in a million" that someone might be lucky enough to have. In the discussions since, it's become obvious that's not how it's being perceived, or how it would be used in practice if it remained in its current state once LON goes live.

The modified Bottled Intellect will appear as follows:

* +15% power recovery
* 10% mana reduction cost for one minute
* Usable once per three hours

I wanted to release this information to the boards first, before the item was changed in both the web site and the game, which will be coming in an upcoming update before the live launch of LON, currently scheduled for next week.

Thank you very much,

- Scott

At first I didn't see a big deal, but then I got thinking. Something like that would be enough to make or break farmers on mobs they previously couldn't farm. Still I wouldn't have went nuts and sent hatemail etc over it.

I agree the items shouldn't make a player any more powerful or put them above other players. I personally want nothing to do with LON. I wish LON and eq2 had nothing to do with each other to be honest.

I was just thinking of an entire raid using this item. Everyone is almost out of power and the mob still has 20% left. Clicky and everyone would be full power time to continue the beat down instead of being wiped.

The new one still is pretty powerful too. You can pretty much count on it still being used by alot of players if they run out of power alot while raiding or grouping. I could still see this item being required for healers in raids.
