New to the game!!!Follow

I am new to the game and had a few questions about armor and weapons and the game in general:

1) is it solo friendly?

2)Is it possible to get the uber armor and weapons by soloing and if so is it easier to do quests or to do tradeskills to accomplish this?

3)Looking for links for shadowknight stuff: i did come accross level 20 questing armor and was wondering where the other armor quests were...

I basically jsut wanna start off the right track with the game and any help would be greatly appreciated...

Please any armor links for uber soloable armor and weapons would help...

Thank you all that reply to this post. I greeatly appreciate it...

1) You will always be able to solo but it will be slower leveling then in a group.

2) The best gear is raid dropped followed by master chests that normally drop off of named group mobs but mastercrafted tradeskills items follow closely behind those. They are made from rare harvests but with recent updates they are not all that rare anymore and you can expect to find enough to at least be able to get someone to make you new weapons for a decent price.

3) Not sure about shadowknight stuff but I skip the armor quests because the are barely better then the normal crafted items you can get for cheap and worse then the mastercrafted and you get through those levels to fast to make it worth while going though.

Overall notes. If soloing make sure to buy your new armor at lvl 20, 30, 40 etc. Just normal and if you get your rares your weapons are more important then your armor. When grouping as a tank that is opposite. Mastercrafted items can be used on the 2s (ex, 12, 22, 32 etc.)

Try and pick up your adept spells at the broker if you have the money. If you do not plan on crafting still do harvesting as you can make alot of money selling harvest items. Expecialy rares.

Um, not really, lol.

Mastercrafted items are crafted by players using rare harvested raws. Because of a major revamp last year none of the database sites, including us, are caught up on them all. (And there's more changes coming this fall with Legend of Kunark, which is why we're stalling on the actual recipe database).

There are thousands of Mastercrafted items. There are Mastercrafted spells (Adept 3's) for darn every spell in the game. There are Mastercrafted gear and weapons for every adventure class in 10-level steps called Tiers.

You can use this search to find Mastercrafted if you have our Premium subscription, but it truncates at 50 items if you don't narrow it down, say, by class. Advanced Item Search

For more information on Harvesting, try this guide: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=948
If you want more information on Crafting, post back, I've got tons.

You may want to take a look at http://eq2.eqtraders.com. They are busy updating info at the moment, but have lists of harvestables, screen shots of armour, etc.

Yes, as a primarily solo player, mastercrafted gear would be the best of what you can get for much of your career. There are some quest rewards that are nice and you can get lucky on drops from occasional grouping. But for the most part, for your primary slots, you will want mastercrafted. Harvest every node you can and save or sell the rares. Also, don't worry about it for the first 20 levels or so. You'll blow through T1 and T2 so fast that it generally won't be worth your money to spend big cash on upgrades. When you hit T3 (20+) start looking into it. Prior to that you are good with quest and mob drops.

I think so. I almost exclusively solo, and I do just fine with Mastercrafted and the odd piece of Legendary from the broker or a guildie.

However, don't fret too much about it. The game is set up so that you are decently equipped by level 20 just playing through the questlines (and they're hard to miss!). You can just play the game and for the first bit you shouldn't have any problems. If you find you want more power or better gear you can always check the broker.

My only advice for new players is to harvest and sell your raws and anything that drops that you don't need to players (or at least try to). Because of transmuting it's possible to make decent coin putting your leftovers on the broker. Then you can afford most of what you feel you need without having to make big decisions about crafting or where to hunt.

I played EQ2 from just after launch up until the end of last year and soloed for much of the time.

I had a lvl 70/70 warden/tailor and a mid 50s ranger/woodworker and kept them both in mastercrafted armor throughout the time I played.

Most tiers, I would gear up as I entered the tier and never worried about stats till I crossed into the next tier.

I soloed alot and while mastercrafted is good and will help you out alot it is not completely necessary.

I always used normal armor and mastercrafted weapons. Granted there were times when fights were tough and Heroics would woop up on me. But not many classes can take a heroic anyways.

If you can afford to keep all your stuff at mastercrafted by all means do so but if you cant at least try and do your weapons. The faster you kill stuff the less damage it can do to you.

Your request is too broad :) For what level and class?
