Just wondering how many people play EQ2 with a wireless network card? I thought about buying one but I have heard some people say that wireless doesn't work well with games. I have a pretty decent router (linksys wireless G) and I would be getting a 802.11g wireless card.

have done it, don't choose to if I don't have to. my experience was just a bit more unstable than hard copper conductors, ie occasional latency drops from server. (Of course, on that self same wifi we have an HP wireless printer which is 'often' polling the network for a heartbeat from the machines who have it set for default printing.)

I was using a wireless network until recently. I would recommend using a hard connection if possible. Wireless tends to get interrupted alot more causing drops from the game. This can be really dangerous when raiding or grouping if you are a healer or tank.

In my opinion.. the quality of your game play is directly related to the quality of your wireless router. Spend $40 on NetGear vs. $240 on high end LinkSys or other router and the experiences are going to be night and day.

Geography of the router and pc, what sort of electronic appliances, number of other pc's on the network, etc. also have a bearing on the performance.

My suggestion.. go to Best Buy, purchase the insurance when buying your router, give it a try at home and if it doesn't work for you, return the modem less the restocking fee and pick up some more Cat5 cable on your way out. ;)

Wireless can be so finicky. Our place is over 20 years old, and there's RF interference.

I use a wireless broadband connection. I do not recommend it at all over a land line. We live out in the country and its the only option. We had to buy a 50ft cord and put the modem in the SW corner of our house. This improved the reception but we still get dropped too frequently to be a hard core gamer.

Wireless is teh suck.

I'll have to agree with pretty much everyone in this thread. I played EQ1 almost exclusively with a wireless network connection after moving into the new house, and it was frighteningly terrible at times. If you're going to go with it it, make absolutely sure you maximize the geography of your home to your advantage.

But, I stilll recommend a hard line.

Just to post for the opposite side, i EQ2 almost exculisively on my wireless (WEPs enabled) internet with no problem. I even have a $39.99 belkin wireless router (though i am waiting for it to die, it gets SO F ing HOT). Of course my router is in the living room and that's where i do my gaming so it is close by.

I play on my laptop so wires are the suck. Raiding from the comfy couch ftw!!!
