will it matter which name i get?
its just twice as easy deciding if an ATI is better
than the other than if the GeForce is better.
my computer is currently running GeForce,
but i can switch that over right?
a little help!

It doesnt really matter what you use , per se. It depends on which 2 models your comparing.(GeForce vs Radeon)
As far as switching goes, sure you can. If you switch from Nvidia to ATI you will have to install ATI's Drivers.

If your comfortable with Nvidia then just get a better Nvidia card, which means you'll just have to update your current software on your computer.(I think this is waay easier)

Im Running EQ2 on a 2.4ghz 1 gig ram , Geforce 6800 512mb video card, and i can run the game smoothly most of the time on Very high performance...

I haven't bought ATI since I played EQ1. There was a persistent problem with them that they never did work out. But I don't hear of a lot of issues with either one with EQ2.

I remember having a ATI a long time ago (back when 32 megs of video memory was good). Anyways it ran horrible. Always had driver issues it seemed like etc.

Anyways I recently upgraded to a 8600 GTS Geforce card. I can play eq2 on max settings and it runs great. Only slow ddowns I have seen so far is inside of town (near broker). I imagine I would have to turn it down for a raid.

I've been nVidia since... well since they were in German manufactured Gladiacs and could hookup shutter glasses for 3D viewing... no need to change my opinion yet, with what I'm seeing on an 8800 GTS running on a nVidia 680i mobo.
...which will happily take a second card in sli and a quad core processor - "someday".

I used to run an old ATi Radeon 8500. I upgraded about 18 months ago to Nvidia 8600GS as it was at a good price/performance point at the time. The Radeon worked surprisingly well for it's age, but the Nvidia totally owns it for quality (there again it should as it's a much more up to date & capable card).
