I am in europe, so i was only able to play till 12 and its now nearly 10:30 at night and they are still doing maintenance. Is it always this bad? If so i think i may be leaving because it is a bit bad because i just wanna play, and only just getting it yesterday night and only been playing to play for a maximum of 2 hours since i got the game, really not showing me a good examble of the game : (

So is it always this bad?

FOR GOD SAKES now they have extended it for another 2 hours... this is bloody redicluous... iv not been able to play for an entire day, this is poor, very very poor.

Not poor, it happens.

And quite infrequently too. It's not like this happens every week, or even every month.

Just bad luck, that's all.

But they do it in a bazare way, Blizzard do a much better job.. they have different maintance times for different regions.. so EU and US. The fact that SOE offer maintance at the same time is bad because there is a bloody 8 hour difference and they cater the maintance time to the US meaning EU dont get to play for a day.

Seriously, this is not normal. Part of what's going on is patching in LoN Beta, and some major maintenance across ALL SOE platforms.

Usually downtime's an hour or so maybe once a week, if that, and an hour or two on Update day..

I've played both WoW and EQ2 and this is better than the way BLizzard does it. Only because with BLizzard, you can expect never to be able to get on each tuesday for hours. EQ2 this is almost unheard of. I can count on one hand how often this has happened over the years and still have fingers left over.

Just really bad luck on your end. I promise, it gets better

Hear here, and well said.
They just added the LoN database to all servers. AND added the front end to manage it. Just your unlucky timing.

Seriously, it's not always as bad as it was today.

Sometimes, it's worse!

I'm just kidding, but honestly in my experience with WoW I basically knew that on tuesdays I wasn't going to be able to play. I've always thought that if there was one thing SOE does unarguably better than any other company it's manage their game's downtime.

Being another EU player, I have learnt to go getting some RL XP on update days. These are few and far between though and you really just have bad timing. Most GU's are done in a reasonable time, but every once in a while they put some major content into the game that makes the update that bit longer. It's a shame that they update the EU servers to a US schedule, but at least SOE are maintaining and updating the game.

I was thinking yesterday that it was better than when the EU waited an extra week to get the updates, lol.
