Pick up raids across servers....Follow

Copying an idea that WoW uses for its PvP battlegrounds and such... They literally pull people from numerous servers into quene times for these PvP events. People choose which event they want and wait, sometimes as little as30 seconds to start an event.

Would it be possibly to do this with Raids in EQ2? Basically have someone start a Raid quene for a particular instance and then people could sign up depending on what class is needed. Then if you pull resources from numerous servers, then you should be able to form a raid fairly quickly during peak hours.

Just thinking...

Hmm...they teach 'em good down there at JMU. That's actually a really snazzy idea. I'd support it.

NCSU and don't you forget that! JMU does have more then its fair share of lovely ladies, though. But I digress...

Not sure how it would work, but the concept would be similiar to looking for a group except show the raids that are curently forming. The person looking for a raid would then choose which one he/she would would like to attend... The raids would have starting times assigned to them, what classes were needed, etc.

The raid leader would then enter the zone and the remaining people would be transported to the zone. Of course, access quests and such would still have to be completed, etc.

PROS:

1.) Opens the ability to raid for a lot of people that currently can't or won't.
2.) Explore new zones and learn the skills of raiding.
3.) No more waiting trying to get a raid force to get certain quest updates. (i.e. mark of the awakened final step.)

CONS:

1.) Only really feasible for instanced zones. Contested raid mobs are still linked to set server.

2.) Probably lots that I can't think of.

Whenever I see Harrisonburg + Computers I automatically assume JMU. ;) My sister in-law graduated from there and I had to live out in Edinburg for a few months a good number of years ago.

I would imagine that they would have to implement some sort of commons room/staging area with zone-ins to the raid instances which would be local on a server dedicated to /just/ raid instances. Hell, this could have the happy side effect of removing some load from the rest of the normal servers.
