How similar is EQ2 to EQOA?Follow

#1 Aug 03 2007 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
I'm thinking about starting up another MMO, and EQ2 caught my eye. A few questions though:

1)For those of you who have played EQOA on PS2, how similar is it? What are the major simililarities and differences?

2)The game is still well populated, correct? I don't want to join in when the game is on a downfall. And is the community generally helpful and nice?

3)I also played WoW, but only up to about 30. Anything significantly different from that?

Thanks!

1. Very Different. I wont spoil much but I will say knowledge of EQOA lore will get you nowhere. Game play is completely different and better for the most part. Grinding has been thrown out the window, 70 levels but much easier to level. although I admit I do miss the simplicity of eqoa sometimes.

2.Yes, to both.

3.No clue, except that of course we have way better graphics.

No grindage.... That should be enough to make the switch. A buddy of mine played EQOA nonstop and quit at level 57 to try out EQ2. Quests are the rule when playing EQ2 if you want to level with any sort of quickness. Yes, you can grind but questing is much more fun IMHO.

Its still simple to play and not nearly as complex as EQ1. But then there have only been a handful of expansions versus 14 or so for eq1.

EQOA will never have an expansion released. Frontiers was the only expansion that I know of...

WoW is much differnt but they both have their benefits. I currently have an account with each one. When I get tired of one, I swtich to the other for a bit, though I have spent much more time with EQ2.

By the game, find a good guild, and have fun.
