High dps fighter?Follow

#1 Jul 23 2007 at 8:00 PM Rating: Decent
Do any of the Fighter type classes have exceptionally high DPS? I mean like enough to out damage a Scout type class. I'm thinking that I want to try and play a fighter type, but I like playing the, generally, highest DPS class in the game. If no Fighter can out DPS a scout, which Scout has the general highest DPS in the game?

This is really up for debate and you'll get a ton of different answers, most of them anecdotal. Fighters aren't really built for massive DPS, but they can crank it out if specc'ed right. For example, as a shadowknight specc'ed for DPS, I tend to be consistently in the top 8 to 10 on our raids and occasionally top 5, losing to some scouts and beating out others. It fluctuates. The bottom line is that a dedicated, DPS specc'ed scout will always be able to out-DPS any fighter. High DPS fighters include SKs, monks and bruisers, and arguably 'zerkers. None of them are considered "tier 1" DPS. If you want to be a tier 1 DPS'er you need to roll with a predator scout (ranger, assassin) or a nuking mage (wiz, warlock, etc.). That said, if you really like the idea of a fighter or tanking, the DPS that the fighters I mentioned put out is still respectable.

Well, I suppose pretty much all DPS specc'd fighters out DPS bards (the 'utility' scout type).

If you are looking for top DPS, then Ranger/Assassin is probably more your style. If you're looking for high DPS, some utility and a bit of tanking capability....possibly Swashbuckler might suit you as well.

Even though Scout class will put up the DPS remember to use it wisely. All to often I watch an assassin assume the dead posture for drawling argo off us tanks.

I have a lvl 77 Fae Ranger w/quest given gear. My best kill was a 77^^ Herioc from the City of Mist. I had to kite him and run backwards in circles stunning and hitting him with arrows for almost two mins. My best dmg was around 5400. Mind you this is with average gear. With traps and stun and big arrow dmg I regularly bring down same lvl mobs before they get to my feet. I have gone to the Wastes of Jarsath and taken down 81's and 82's and some 80^'s at lvl 76. I know not all mods at a lvl are created equal, but this should give you an idea of what a ranger can do in Dmg. With my play style I mostly always solo because of the dmg a ranger can do they pull arrgo and end up solo'ing anyways.

If you must have a fighter, and you're looking for a higher DPS rate, your best bet is to go with the brawlers: monks and bruisers. They are the fastest of the fighters. Monks hit more, bruisers hit harder. You will never rank in DPS with the scouts as a fighter, but if you know your class well, and time your combat arts to cacaphony of blades or Dispatch in raids, you cab hold your own pretyy well. As an 80 monk, in offensive stance and offensive geared, I regularly make the top 6 in parsing for our raids. My husband, who plays an 80 bruiser, does the same.

I have a lvl 74 monk and love her. I can't tank nearly as well as the plates out there but I can hold my own in a group. My damage out put is fantastic, at least it is for me. I haven't run into much of anything I can't kill as long as I'm watching what I'm doing. I also have a guardian. She's a pure tank, little dps. I'm more likely to bore the mob to death than to kill it but you can't beat the tanking. It's a toss up.

In all, if your looking for a dps fighter, I'd recommend the monk or bruiser.
