Play button not showing after D/LFollow

Hey guys,

Still having issues with EQ2 and Vista.

I installed everquest 2 and went through about an hour of downloading. When it completes I see the message "Update Complete" but the play button does not show. Instead it is a grayed out box that says "Updating" or something. There is text below it that says "Download" but when I click on it it just does a 2 second download and says "Update Complete" again. I have contacted the Tech Support for SOE and they were no help. I tried running the everquest file from the everquest 2 folder and i get a message that says "xul.dll was not found, reinstalling the application may fix the problem." I have reinstalled this game 2 times now. What the heck is going on? Please, someone help me. Lol. I am getting desperate. I just want to play :)

Thanks.

Are you using Vista?

I don't use Vista, but I've been seeing a lot of people having issues with it. The fix I remember off the top of my head is to run the game as Administrator.

My only suggestion is to try the Official Forums Technical Support Forum. While there's probably no one working today, they do have actual real SOE techs to help troubleshoot this sort of thing, and a lot of real knowledgeable players help out.

I actually just found another place to mark "Administrator", so I did that and I am trying again. The download is taking a lot longer than usual this time and I got some different popups about stuff when the launcher opened. Hopefully, this did the trick. I guess I will know sometime today when this horribly long D/L finishes. Wish me luck. I can't wait to get in game with everyone!

It worked! Thank God! I'm on the server Lucan De Lere. I'm a Human Conjurer of Qeynos. Just started. Look forward to playing with you all!

Thanks!

Gratz, and welcome to Norrath! I know it was a tough trip, but I think you'll find it was worth it.

So where exactly did you find the correct Vista administrator permissions. Detail the settings on the sticky at the top of the page so others can benefit from your experience.

by just right clicking on the EQ2 icon towards the top of the tool bar that pops up, should be an option that says "Run as Admin" with the windows firewall icon next to it, then it'll have a window pop up asking if the program is safe and if you have run it before so click the yes option and there ya go.

Theres actually two spots that has "run as admin". You want the one under the shortcut tab I believe. You have to click a button and it takes you to another screen where it is at. Sorry if this is vague, I am at work and we use XP.
