crafting questions by returning playerFollow

I've been away from EQ2 for some years and there have been many changes to the game, I'm sure. I've read the thread for returning players and it's a great help. I'm being drawn back to the game mainly for it's amazing crafting system. I'm interested in selling crafted items on the brokerage and selling raw materials that I don't use in crafting. I know that each server's economy is different, but there are probably some generalities that can be made. Are there particular crafts that are more valuable (items sell better or steadily)? Are there advantages in hooking up with a guild and being a crafter for them? I would think guilds have tons of crafters, particularly low level ones. Are there certain crafts that are much more expensive to do than others as far as ingredients, recipes, or fuel? I appreciate the insights and responses of the community.

As far as seeing what sells better . you should watch the local server market to see what sells best and what doesn't ..selling does seem to go in cycles however so dont be discouraged if something doesnt sell right away . Any guild help is cool especially when looking for rares to use in tradeskilling.According to my guild members the Tinkering skill seems to be one of the most expensive and difficult . I have a provisioner for food and drink and a tailor for my cloth and leather armor . Both of which can save you big cash on buying items and upgrades . good luck and have fun )

Some crafts are easier to persue than others, mainly due to the number of recipes. Somebody like an Alchemist will have about a dozen new spells (and hence a dozen pristine bonuses) per level, whereas someone like an Armourer only has 3 or 4 new spells per level.

People always need food & drink, there again there are quite a few provisioners around. Carpenters produce loads of cool stuff - see Calthine's comments on other threads about struggling to make enough arrows to supply demand. I've heard a few weaponsmiths complain that it is difficult to sell stuff, especially non-mastercrafted stuff.

Personally, my main crafter is an armourer, mainly to supply armourer for my SK & zerker. I make stuff for guildies from time to time, but don't usually bother trying to sell stuff on the broker. I will go LFW from time to time - there seem to be very few crafters who offer their services in this way. Commissions could be a way to make a bit of money.

One of the easiest & cheapest ways to gain crafting XP is to do timed writs. The stuff you make doesn't appear in your inventory, but instead you get your fuel costs back. You will then get a cash reward for completing the quest, plus status. In the next update you should get some additional XP too. Your main costs then will be your raws.

People hate to give up money making secrets.

Tailoring, Outfitting and Jewelry.
MC= Mastercrafted
HC= Handcrafted

Items that always sell for me are:

Backpacks: any size and tier - T1 packs even sell if posted at the right price. Augmented Leather Backpacks sell in weird spurts - keep at least 16 on the broker at any given time. same applies to MC Quivers - keep 3-7 posted on the broker - varying tiers is fine.
MC T1 Sackcloth armor.
MC T2 Merchant cloth armor.
MC T1-T7 chaos dolls sell like crazy. All tiers.
MC T1-T7 fright dolls sell a bit less than chaos but are great earners.
MC ruin dolls sell ok - shadow dolls seem to sell slowly.
HC T2 Iron Vanguard Plate (never sell for less than 4-5g each and 7g for imbued chest/legs) - keep at least 3 pieces of each slot on the broker - some days they will all sell out - don't chase low priced folks down the broker- if competitors only have one item up they are probably skilling through the recipe book - buy them out and resell the item. This is the item to sell if you need seed cash for items like Sisal Root.
MC cloaks are wonky - low levels seem to sell ok.
HC T1 and T2 imbued rings sell pretty good sometimes- HC neck slot a bit less.
T1 and T2 Adept3 pet spells - anyone can make T1 AD3 spells.

I've made alts on different servers and these items always sell well.
