2 boxing - your thoughtsFollow

Having just recently purchased a new tower, I decided to loan my old shuttle to a friend who plays a ton more eq2 then I do. Well, the results are, for lack of better phrase, Fooking Incredible! Let me explain....

Having a close friend 2-box is like having a miniture guild in your back pocket. Since I play maybe an hour a day (average), he can help me progress through content that I would never see. Tonight, we will hopefully progress the Mark of the Awakened quest and finish with SoS for a bit. Our three toons are a level 70 wizzy, pally, and shaman. We can literally go anywhere we want in SoS, various instances, etc... Group stuff. With Amends on the wizzy, the pally tanks, and the shaman wards and heals. We move fast and efficiently.

Then, when real life and wife start calling, he has the rest of the evening to do whatever he wants to do. Right now he is leveling up the other alts on his accounts to level 70. Though not especially fast (like eq1) it is still many times quicker then trying to solo content or find groups.

Therefore, we both benefit greatly!

But my question is this... Are we doing something unethical? It certainly gives us a leg up on the competition. But we aren't violating anything regarding te EULA as far as I know. What would you guys do?

I've been in groups with up to 4 toons boxed (1 player, 4 accounts). Generally its pretty nice as the player boxing multiple toons will only roll on items with his main. Dual boxing or more is nothing new, and about the only time ethics comes into play is when someone dual boxing wants to group with others. They should inform the group about it and probably just roll 1x on items.

If you have the resources and are willing to dish out the cash for multiple accounts, gof for it.

between the two of us, hubby and I have 3 accounts. Im not fond of two-boxing myself, but he adores it and we have a good time pulling out an extra player to tag along. our main group consists of a 70 bruiser/monk/fury. We rarely get into trouble with those three when we go out, and if we're looking to form a group with our friends we either already have a tank and healer, or can drop one with ease if needed.

I used to do it with Eq1, however with EQ1 unless your a Solo class you pretty much can't do nothing without a group. For awhile I had control of 4 accounts. Two of them belonged to my Friend which included a Monk and a Cleric and the Two I had was a Necro and a Warrior. I usually ran 2 accounts on each computer and for the most part it worked out ok.

Far as Eq2 goes I don't feel the need to really. I don't see any problem with it though if somebody wants to. Problem for me with 2boxing eq2 is you have more buttons to push with eq2. I mean in eq1 I could set a dps/tank class on auto attack and concentrate with the cleric and necro as where eq2 pretty much your constantly using skills regardless of what class you are.

I agree with you, Fronglo. I need to concentrate on one character at a time in eq2. Not sure how my buddy does it but he can 2 box quite well. But I would think that there are way too many buttons to push...

However, with me tanking, all he needs to do is ward me while nuking with the wizzy. It can be done but too much work in my opinion. I like to enjoy my limited playtime.
