I don't mean to cause any concern here but the population on this forum seems to be a lot less then even a few months ago. Is it because there is another website that people have meandered to? Or is the population of EQ2 directly affecting the amount of people who come to this forum?

I play a toon on Nektulous named Amezed. I have 5 alts and there always seems to be plenty of people running around. Hate's Envy is a nice area with plenty of newbies adventuring. Therefore I can't vouch for population declines (if any) on this server. Also, because I mainly group with one other guy for high level stuff, I can't say how the end game is coming along either.

What are your thoughts on the population on this board? The various eq2 servers? I am fairly certain there hasn't been an increase in population, since there havn't been any extra servers added. But I am more interested in learning about whether the existing population is static or declining.

SOE has its own official EQ2 forums which are alive and active:
forums.station.sony.com/eq2/forums/list.m

I think this is the reason why this forum is not used much.

population of the game is not declining. If anything, it seems to be growing still. I wouldnt take the population of one gaming sites forum as a sign of doom for the game itself. There are a bunch of other sites for EQ2 that are much more active, along with more up to date info for the game. Most likely people are scattered amongst those.

EQ2traders forum is sloooow but the gal that runs the site is very much on top of updating changes to both the test and live servers - I think she gets loads of traffic, just not much forum buzz. Deserved or not this site took a major reputation hit because of the sloppy ham-fisted way the the merger went down.

Folks have been using EQ2i as an information source but why is that guy suddenly trusted? I think he used the Wiki style format to trick folks into thinking its an open source public domain site. The owner of that site will cash out just like everyone else has and where will we be then? Plus there are RMT ads on EQ2i, heck the money has to come from somewhere right?

The way information is added to this site should be overhauled. People have become accustomed to Wiki style information submissions. For example, there should be an quest information interface page -change the submission form on quest pages- with blank EQ2 game windows where we can type directly onto mocked up NPC quest text boxes.

EDIT: I want to dispute the notion that other sites are updated more frequently. From first hand experience I can say thats not true, look at the recent commentspage and now look here which was Posted: Jul 7th 2007 2:02pm and a new page was added here by Tamat at Updated 2007-07-12 01:06:45

EDIT: I'm looking for a good general gaming site, I really like TTLG Forums but want to add a few more good sites to my bookmarks list.

We do updates every day (see http://eq2.allakhazam.com/news_archives.html, the ones tagged "updates"). I personally do 40-60 updates a day! At a rough guess, probably only 1/3 of our additions/updates are from user submissions. Tamat handles user submissions, Raven and I are active in-game data-collectors, and Kiara does editorials and data collection. We all do data entry. (As a matter of fact, I'm about to sit down and bust out a bunch of updates.)

One of the differences between us and Those Other Guys is that this site has been here since launch, while Those Other Guys started up after most of the major revamps. That means that you will occasionally trip over some old data here; just leave a note! The same revamps that made this game such a cool playing experience has left some tracks is all.

That being said, we do have things going on to make this site more functional for everyone - stay tuned!

Okay, what was the main point... oh, forums!

The Official Forums are definitely the chattiest around, I think. Having those there from launch kind of centralized the player community so that fansite forums don't get a lot of chatter. Which is cool, it makes for a great information clearing house.

I mainly read stuff while at work. When I'm at home, I'm playing. My work, in their infinate wisdom, block access to the SOE forums! Hence, I am here and very grateful for my EQ2 fix.

I must admit though, the forums on TTH have gone exceedingly quiet.

Here's my theory. Allakhazam's has the awesome feature of allowing users to post comments and tips for any quest/item. Since quests and items are a huge portion of the game (and tradeskills are already discussed in guides and at the tradeskill website), all thats really left to discuss in the general forums is noob questions, small talk, and the occassional technical issue.

Lets hear it for work denying every other Allakhazam site but the EQ2 one! Speaking of work....I suppose I better get back to it.

Oh one suggestion I would like to make to the Allakhazam team, it would be nice if there was a feature to browse all the most recent posts and comments in the forums/quest/items/tradeskill/etc sections.

Well, I took a small break for a bit, had some upheavals at work and needed to take on some extra responsibilities... things are calmer now, so I can get back in.

I'm on Butcherblock and created two alts this weekend, one good, one bad. I noticed that both Queen's Colony and Outpost of the Overlord looked a bit empty, especially for a weekend. But I think most people were playing their main toons and raiding. Then again, there's a pretty large Fae population on my server, so they might all be hanging out there...
