How do you make your money?Follow

Let's hear it. What are your ways of making money in the game?

Part time player here (maybe 30min - 60min a day). I have a level 70 toon and a bunch of low level alts. My main is also a level 70 carpenter and one alt is a level 38 provisioner. Also have a 35 jeweler but mostly to craft App IV spells for our newbies.

If I know I don't have a lot of time, I generally will run around low level zones and look for collectibles. They sell well but the market fluctuates tremendously. That cracked bone that sells for 60 gold one day can be 3 gold the next. Stormhold has about 3-4 spots where the respawns are easy to find and quick.

My interest in crafting has slowed down to almost zero. My provisioner can make 5 gold per stack of tier 4 food (level 40 stuff) which is insane profit, but very tedious. Haven't crafted with my 70 carpenter for money in a long time. I still make stuff for buddies but I always give it away. I suppose the box market is still going strong but, again, tedious.

Good ole' master spells are always a good seller but pally's aren't that good with soloing named mobs... I may get a few when I group with my buddy.

Treasured loot (level 60-70) is selling close to vendor value. I usually just vendor it because of that.

What are your ways of generating income in the game?

I would say most of my income is from collectibles, especially eof rare collectibles. Heck, I made about 2 and a half plat from just 3 rares yesterday and thats pricing items at the cheapest price on the broker. Regular adept I scrolls used to be easy cash prior to 60+, but now that I'm 70 they don't sell too quickly.

One think I have noticed about broker sales is that there is an alarming number of people selling items below merchant value...when I load up my nightly loot, I usually have to withdraw a couple items because people are selling below what a NPC will pay.

Yea most of mine comes from rare collectibles. I made 1pp off a cracked Iksar Bone and I found it in a newb zone at level 12ish. Everybody else was selling them for 1.5pp+. I just can't see completing a bone quest when it costs that much, but I guess some people have enough PP they don't care to pay?

Mug children for their lunch mone..er...I mean I uh...I sell drops I don't need. Yeah, that's the ticket...

In all seriousness though..just hunting. Especially in tier 7. Most common mob dropped vendor trash sells for a couple gold a pop. Then you have Adept I spell drops which go for 4-6g on the vendor (slightly more on the broker maybe). On top of that you get lucky on "Looted X treasure" that sells for 10-16g a pop on the vendor. Plus any treasured gear you find for 4-9g a piece....it adds up. A good couple hour romp through a dungeon can net you 1 to 2p through just vendor trash alone if you are lucky on the dice rolls.

If you don't need fast money, sell that kind of stuff ont he broker to Transmuters.

I love to harvest so I created 3 toons to make items for sale: Tailor, Weaponsmith, and Woodworker. Since I craft mainly high end lvl 1 to 5 items I guess I average 1p to 3p most nights. I do have 4 ebon boxes and I keep then almost fully stocked.

What sells well? For example I have a level 20 armoror and level 20 scribe. Do these low level spells and armor sell even if pristine? Should I wait for the high level stuff? Should I do another craft?

Eh, that's too difficult to answer, because it depends a lot on your server's market.

General rule of thumb: commons don't usually sell well, I'd hold out for marketing Adept 3's and Mastercrafted. Perhaps throw a couple of common items up and see if they move, but I wouldn't go to extraordinary lengths to fill the broker with 'em. Check the broker *before* you craft that rare: look to fill holes in the market supply. Always harvest your own raws: this way if you end up selling everything to the NPC you're only out time.

You also might look into crafting writs at the Ironforge Exchange or Coalition of Tradesfolke. These pay a little cash and help you level up (next Update they'll even grant some bonus XP).
