Does Anyone Wear Xegonite Armour?Follow

Having got my armourer into tier 7, I can't help noticing how cheap Xegonite clusters are on the broker - about 35g. Does nobody wear Xegonite armour, or are you all in Legendary/Fabled gear? Or, are there just loads more Xegonite clusters around due to it being easier to mine in Tenebrous Tangle than Sinking Sands?

My zerker is L57 & all cobalt clad at the moment - he doesn't group or raid that much. Is it worth making him a set of Xegonite for when he's L62? It is worth trying to get Legendary kit bearing in mind the next expansion will raise level cap?

Tier 7 is where things sort of turned a corner on crafted gear versus dropped gear. Especially weapons and to a lesser extent, armor. Obtaining pieces that are stronger than mastercrafted is not /that/ difficult in KoS. That said, it would be difficult to loot yourself an entire set swiftly. Given how inexpensive xegonite is, there really isn't a reason you shouldn't make a set for your toon. I wore xegonite for several levels into T7 before I replaced the primary pieces and it did well.

Heck.

My level 70 pally still wears a few pieces of Xegonite armor. I have replaced a few items with some raid gear from Labs and a few items from the Claymore quest line.

Craft yourself a set. It is the best you can have until the mid 60's when you can start leveling in the instances of KoS. Also the Claymore quest line provides some nice upgrades but you will need a lot of help on it. I play part time and sometimes group with an UBER wizzie who is fully decked out with fabled gear. I can only advance that quest line with his help and its getting close to where we will need even more help.

It really depends on your style of play. If you are a casual player then certainly make a set. If you are quickly leveling a toon to raid then you can probably do without since you will soon find gear thats a lot better.

Another point I just thought of...

If you are the type of player that likes the look of mastercrafted armor then go for it. Personally, I think its one of the nicest looking armor sets in the game.

Right now my pally looks like he was dressed by a 2 year old. Nothing matches and my fabled leggings look more like a set of cowboy chaps.

This is just my theory, but I am guessing that xegonite is pretty cheap because alot of people mine the ore clusters for the rare loam for adept III's. Its not that hard to find a place to mine T7 ore unhindered at lvl 70.

I must admit I do like the look of the cobalt set I am wearing at the moment. Nice shade of purple. I only wish there was some way to display it in my room after I've done with it. It'd be cool to have a suit of armour stood in the corner.

Edit: I found a rare loam the other day, and must admit they cost just a tad more on the broker! Still deciding which spell to have made up.

I would have to make room for 5 sets of armor (tier 2-7). To think of the time and money spent on my previous sets is mind boggling.
