i can't get this game to work anyone have some suggestions Follow

when i try to play the game the screen goes black for a sec then crashes....... the first time this happened there was a message that said something like the driver failed to create somthing else and it said it was a fatal error i tried updating my driver btw the have a dell dimension 4600i with a intel R 82865G graphics controller and i tried reinstalling the game and i have run out of ideas so any help would be great thank you

Your problem is the integrated video card. Controllers like these use shared system memory as part of its video RAM, so if your computer boasted 128mb of video RAM it would actually be 32mb video and 96mb of system RAM allocated for video.

The EQ2 application launches as tries to address both the system RAM and the video RAM so it can preload the engine, textures, etc. In the case of shared RAM the program is addressing the same "block" of RAM twice, which in turn will cause it to crash back to the desktop.

Long story short, snag a new video card and disable the onboard controller. The Geforce 6 series of cards comes in both AGP and PCI-E and is very reasonably priced... I ran the game with a Geforce 6600 for a while it served me very well.
