master II skills questionFollow

Hey I'm a new player on vox and I just got the opton for my first master II spell as a gnome bruiser. I checked into the abilities and I see some repeat. There are upper level spells which do the same thing as my lower level ones. If I make Dodge and Strike (agi/str boost buff) a master II then will the similar upper level abilities overwrite it and make it a wasted upgrade? Also do all upper level bffs overwrite lower level ones of the same type?

I'm also unfamiliar with achievement points. Do I need a certain expansion to get them?
